Off-Road Legend Bill Baird Hospitalized
Sorry to be informing you of some more news about one of our American motorcycle legends but here goes. Bill Baird the legendary seven-time AMA Grand National Enduro Champion who is now in his late 80’s has fallen and through complications has suffered paralysis and speech loss. He is in rehab to gain back the skills he has lost and it is a long road for him. Millie Baird said to me, “it takes Bill a long time to say something because he really has to think about what he is saying. All he wants to do now is come home!” Bill is current staying in a rehab facility in Morrison, Illinois and is showing progress according to Millie. Not only was Bill Baird a champion back when his bike of choice was a Triumph TR5 (500cc) but he served as an AMA official and board member for many years. Millie Baird, Bill’s wife was a member of the Rock River Riders and the Motor Maids and was voted the Most popular female rider back in the 1960’s.
Please keep Bill and Millie Baird in your prayers because they are truly special people to all of the motorcycle community.
