South Fork, CO (August 17, 2026) — The Trails Preservation Alliance (TPA) is proud to announce the 16th annual Colorado 600, taking place September 16–20, 2026, in South Fork, Colorado. More than a premier motorcycle riding experience, the Colorado 600 Trails Awareness Symposium is a fundraising event dedicated to educating, protecting and preserving Colorado’s motorized trail access for generations to come.

The Colorado 600 brings together a limited group of passionate riders, industry leaders, and trail advocates for an unforgettable four-day experience through some of Colorado’s most spectacular backcountry terrain. Participants will experience scenic mountain roads, trails, and the camaraderie that comes from riding with people who share a passion for public lands.

But the real purpose of the event goes far beyond the ride.

Every dollar raised helps the TPA advocate to protect motorized trail access – keeping Colorado’s trails open.

“The Colorado 600 is about much more than riding motorcycles,” said Chad Hixon, Executive Director of the Trails Preservation Alliance. “It’s an opportunity for riders to see firsthand what we’re working to protect—and to directly support the people and work required to keep these trails open and maintained. The support generated through this event makes a real difference on the ground.”

Legendary Guest Speaker: Jack Penton

The 2026 Colorado 600 will also feature legendary off-road racer and AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Jack Penton as a special guest speaker. A lifelong motorcyclist and one of America’s most accomplished enduro competitors, Penton competed in the International Six Days Trial/Enduro 12 times, earning six Gold Medals, three Silver Medals, and one Bronze. He was also a member of six U.S. Trophy Teams and earned an impressive 27 national titles during his racing career.

Beyond his racing accomplishments, Penton played an important role in the development of the American off-road motorcycle industry, working with his father, legendary motorcycle pioneer John Penton, and later contributing to motorcycle development and racing programs. His decades of experience racing, developing motorcycles, and promoting off-road riding give him a unique perspective on the history and evolution of the sport. At the Colorado 600, Penton will share stories from his remarkable career and offer insight into the people, machines, and experiences that helped shape American off-road motorcycling.

Riding for a Purpose

The Trails Preservation Alliance works year-round to protect motorized access across Colorado and the West. Through advocacy, education, stewardship, trail maintenance, and direct engagement with land managers, the organization works to ensure that responsible motorized recreation remains a part of America’s public lands.

Colorado’s trail network faces increasing pressure from closures, land-use decisions, environmental restrictions, and competing recreational interests. Events like the Colorado 600 provide critical funding for the TPA’s ongoing efforts to protect, preserve, and maintain access to the trails riders love.

Participants in the 2026 Colorado 600 will enjoy the following:

  • Three days of exceptional Colorado riding
  • Carefully curated GPS routes and tracks
  • Hotel accommodations in South Fork
  • Educational symposium presentations
  • Opportunities to meet and engage with land-use experts and trail advocates
  • A closing banquet celebrating the people working to protect Colorado’s trails
  • The opportunity to directly contribute to the future of motorized recreation

More Than a Motorcycle Ride

The Colorado 600 is designed to give participants a firsthand understanding of the challenges facing Colorado’s trail system while demonstrating what can happen when riders become actively involved in protecting their public lands.

The funds raised through the event support TPA initiatives including trail advocacy, land-use policy work, trail maintenance and stewardship, education, and engagement with federal, state, and local land managers.

For riders who believe that access to public lands is worth protecting, the Colorado 600 is an opportunity to put that belief into action.
