Makita Suzuki Rider Went 1-1 to Take the Overall in Maryland

In this week’s Throwback we dial back the clock 21 years to 2005 and the AMA Motocross National at Budds Creek Motocross Park. This photo shows the start of the first premier class moto and predictably it was Makita Suzuki’s Ricky Carmichael (4) with the great start on his factory Suzuki RMZ450. Yamaha’s Tim Ferry (15) tucked right in behind RC to earn himself a great start as well. You can also clearly see Josh Woods (91), Ernesto Fonseca (24), Juss Laansoo (942) and Rusty Holland (67). Carmichael went 1-1 to score the overall ahead of runner up Chad Reed (3-2) and third-place finisher James Stewart (2-3). It marked the sixth-straight national win at Budds Creek for Carmichael.
Pro Motocross will visit Budds Creek again this Saturday for the penultimate round of the 2026 series.
