2026 Budds Creek Pro Motocross Results (Updated)

Ryan Nitzen | August 22, 2026

The Budds Creek National serves as the penultimate round of this year’s 2026 AMA Pro Motocross Championship. We’re set for the first real mud race of the season as the skies opened up during the second qualifying session. The track is soaked but fans are in for a treat as the season winds down.

Jett Lawrence leads the points into what’s set to be the first real mud race of the 2026 season.

Last week we saw the points flip upside down as Hunter Lawrence suffered a DNF in the second moto and surrendered the points lead to his younger brother, Jett. The defending champ now leads the series by 10 points with just two rounds left. In the 250 division, Levi Kitchen saw his championship lead cut to just one single point as Cole Davies claimed the overall win at Unadilla. Anything can happen and we’re in for another good one here at Budds Creek.

BUDDS CREEK NOTES

  • Jett Lawrence now leads the 450MX points by 10 over Hunter Lawrence
  • Levi Kitchen narrowly holds the 250 red plate by one point over Cole Davies
  • Last week was the first time Hunter Lawrence has ever finished outside the top five overall in his 450MX career
  • Lachlan Turner won the first moto of WMX on Friday
  • Travis Pastrana is today’s grand marshal

450 MOTO 1

Hiaden Deegan grabbed his third holeshot of the year in 450 moto after lining up three gates from the inside. He and Jett Lawrence were side by side going down the start straight but Jett went off-track and was forced to chop the throttle to avoid a penalty. Jett came in contact with another rider in turn one and dropped well outside of the top 10.

450 Start. Jett Lawrence (1) had to let off the gas in order to avoid a penalty.

Deegan led early on but missed a smooth line after opting not to run the sight lap. Hunter Lawrence powered around the outside to pass Deegan on lap one, a position he’d remain in for the full 30+2. At the halfway mark Lawrence found himself battling lapped traffic and dealing with loose radiator shroud but he remained in control of the race. Deegan pushed as close as two seconds behind Lawrence but the Honda HRC rider remained unfazed and later opened the lead back up to five seconds at the checkers. After a DNF last weekend, Hunter scored maximum points here and cut eight points off his 10-point deficit.

Hunter is now just two points out of the championship lead.

Deegan held on for second in one of his strongest rides to date. A hard-fought run at the halfway point saw Deegan revving the bike and pushing it to the point of steaming. This forced him to back down his pace in order to get the bike to the line. His second place result sets him up nicely for the day’s overall score.

Jorge Prado passed his Red Bull KTM teammate, Eli Tomac, to take third.

Jett Lawrence started outside the top 15 and at one point wasn’t even in a points-paying position. He regathered himself and upped the pace to finish fifth at the line. While he lost eight points to his brother Hunter, Jett’s effort is rewarded by the fact that he still leads the championship standings with three races left.

250 MOTO 1

Levi Kitchen used his top qualifying position to get a jump on the rest of the field going into turn one of the first 250 moto. So much so that he ended up on the inside of the track markers and was later docked four positions for gaining an advantage. That wasn’t the last of the points leader’s struggles either. He led the opening lap but tucked the front end in a high speed slick spot and crashed out of first place. He’d remount but later ditched his goggles after getting dirt in them during the crash. Paired with the four-spot penalty, Kitchen was credited with a 14th place finish and now loses the points lead to Cole Davies.

Davies took over the lead one lap two after passing Chance Hymas. Once out front, Davies was untouchable and led the remainder of the moto. Thanks to Kitchen’s misfortune, Davies now leads the points with only three gate drops left in the season.

Chance Hymas led after Kitchen went down on lap one but quickly lost the spot to Davies on lap two. He’d remain here for the rest of the race, staying close to Davies out front. This is another strong result for the Honda rider in less-than-ideal conditions as he further extends his podium streak.

Chance Hymas led early on and put together a strong moto for second.

Landen Gordon earned his first career moto podium in third. The Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha rider qualified inside the top five and used that position to start up front with the lead group. A few key passes and the 250MX rookie found himself on the box for the first time ever.

450 QUALIFYING

Haiden Deegan came out on top as today’s fastest qualifier in the 450 class. The Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha rider set the time to beat early in the first session, proving he has the pace in the dry conditions. Deegan was the only rider circulating late in Q2 as the rain came down and gave fans a show this morning. He topped Jett Lawrence, who crashed off track and found himself stuck under a fence, with RJ Hampshire rounding out the top three. Hunter Lawrence logged a fast lap but was docked due to jumping on a Red Cross flag.
