Shane McElrath announced his time with the Quad Lock Honda team will come to an end after this year’s AMA Pro Motocross Championship. During their two years together McElrath won the Australian SX2 championship and the World Supercross SX2 championship. No confirmation yet where he’ll land in 2027 but it sounds like it will be a full-time ride on a 450 team.

“I want to give a massive thank you to Quad Lock Honda for the amazing support over the last 2 years,” McElrath said. “This relationship began at a moments notice in September of 2024 (I actually turned it down straightaway without even thinking about it, it was a pretty funny story) and shortly after we went on to win the Australian SX2 championship, as well as the World Supercross SX2 championship. We continued our success into the 2025 SX season where I was able to get my first heat race win and podium in the 450 class. We continued to learn and grow through SX 2026 and we remained competitive and finished the season strong and healthy. It’s been an amazing run with these guys and they have worked hard to provide me with an opportunity to perform and to continue to improve throughout my time here.”

“After two unforgettable years together, Quad Lock Honda and Shane McElrath will part ways following the 2026 AMA Motocross Championship,” the team announced. “Since joining the team in late 2024, Shane has helped us achieve some incredible milestones, including the 2024 Australian SX2 Championship, 2024 FIM World Supercross SX2 Championship, and his first-ever 450 podium. But Shane’s impact on this team goes far beyond results. His professionalism, commitment, and character have made him an important part of our program and our family. As our program moves in a new direction, Shane has an opportunity to continue pursuing his goals in the 450 class, and we couldn’t be happier for him. Thank you for everything, Shane.”
