Gresini Racing Ducati’s Fermin Aldeguer has suffered a significant setback during preseason testing in Spain after breaking his femur, raising doubts about his early participation in the 2026 MotoGP season.

The 20-year-old Spaniard was injured in a crash while training in Spain. Team officials confirmed that Aldeguer sustained the fracture to his femur and was immediately transported to a medical facility for further evaluation and treatment. He later underwent surgery, which the team reported was successful. Aldeguer is now beginning a recovery and rehabilitation program, although no specific timetable has been given for his return to riding.
The incident comes at a key moment for Aldeguer, who was preparing for his second season in the premier class following a promising rookie campaign that saw him take a win in Indonesia. He is expected to remain under close medical supervision in the coming weeks as doctors assess his progress and determine when he may safely resume training.
With the opening rounds of the MotoGP calendar approaching quickly, Aldeguer’s availability for the start of the season remains unclear. Gresini Racing has not yet announced whether a replacement rider will be required should he be unable to participate in upcoming tests or races. CN
