Kawasaki’s modern classic Z900RS range returns for 2026 with a suite of meaningful updates that push the Z900RS lineup further into the sweet spot between heritage style and modern performance.

The lineup once again consists of the standard Z900RS, the performance-focused Z900RS SE ABS, and the café-styled Z900RS CAFE ABS, each carrying forward the style pioneered by the legendary Z1.

It’s still such a looker.. The RS SE is back for 2026 with a host of updates.

The biggest news for 2026 comes in the electronics and engine response departments. Electronic Throttle Valves now enable cruise control and Kawasaki’s Quick Shifter for clutchless up- and downshifts. An IMU is now standard across the range, unlocking cornering-aware rider aids via Kawasaki Cornering Management Function (KCMF) and refined traction control intervention.

The 948cc inline-four receives revised cams and a higher compression ratio to sharpen top-end performance without sacrificing the mellow tractability that was such a hit with us when we tested the model a few years ago. A redesigned megaphone-style muffler and reworked dual-wall headers both refine the classic “Z” look.

The Black Ball edition will certainly turn heads.

Styling sees new color options include the Black Ball edition with blacked-out components and vintage DOHC motifs, while the SE returns with a fresh Fireball scheme, Brembo M4.32 brakes, and an Öhlins S46 rear shock.

The CAFE continues with its distinctive front cowl, revised lower bars, and stepped seat, offering a sportier aesthetic without compromising comfort.

Smartphone connectivity via Kawasaki’s Rideology app also joins the package, allowing riders to sync vehicle info, track rides, and display phone notifications through the classic twin-dial cluster and LCD.
