Kawasaki’s Romain Febvre picked up where he left off a week ago with a holeshot in the opening MXGP race. He led for nearly the entire moto before being caught by Jorge Prado. Prado made a decisive pass and cut the wheel of Febvre to take over the lead. Prado then rode off to a win of seven seconds over Febvre. Glenn Coldenhoff battled his way to third.

Prado again aced the start in race two. Febvre managed to come through just behind but found himself locked in a battle with Coldenhoff and Honda’s Ruben Fernandez. After multiple attempts and an off-track excursion, Febvre managed to make his first move on Prado. The two went at it for multiple laps with Febvre gaining the advantage. His win in the second moto gave him the overall victory over Prado’s 1-2 scores. This is Febvre’s third win of the season, going back-to-back in Indonesia. Coldenhoff took third in race two and went 3-3 for third overall.

Jago Geerts looked back to his old self as he continues to work back from a midseason wrist injury. The Yamaha rider missed a few rounds after the injury at the French round but has returned to the series in a swift fashion. He went untouched in race one and led every lap to a smooth opening moto win. Behind him, the championship leader Andrea Adamo battled with Roan Van De Moosdijk for the second spot with Adamo reclaiming it after Van De Moosdijk’s crash. The Husqvarna rider did pass Adamo early on but later fell and gave back the position. He then battled with Husqvarna teammate De Wolf but Van De Moosdijk eventually took home third in race one.

In moto two, Gerts took over the lead in the opening stages of lap two. He proceeded to ride away from the field and claimed another win by just over seven seconds. A 1-1 day for Geerts gave him the overall and puts him fourth in the championship, 47 points back from the lead.

Adamo (80) worked hard for second overall.

Simon Laengenfelder rode a strong race in the second moto. The GasGas pilot grabbed the holeshot and led the opening lap before Geerts took over. Laengenfelder was momentarily passed by Adamo but reclaimed the position after Adamo hit the deck. This allowed Laengenfelder to take second in the race and third overall.

It was a tough second moto for Adamo as he fell after fighting his way into second position. He dropped back to sixth and was forced to re-make those prior passes. Adamo made several key moves and managed to get around his KTM teammate Everts for third with just a few laps remaining. A 2-3 score still gave Adamo second overall as he retains the championship lead. CN
