2019 JGRMX/Yoshimura Suzuki Team Announcement: With the 2019 Monster Energy/AMA Supercross Series kicking off in just a few weeks now, the Joe Gibbs Racing team has announced its official rider lineup, and probably the biggest news is that two-time champ Chad Reed will be on the team for the 2019 supercross championship. He made his team debut at the MX National series finale in Indiana a few months back and made it clear he wanted to be on the team for supercross in 2019, and now it’s official.

Reed will be joined in the 450cc class by 2017 250cc Western Regional Supercross champ Justin Hill and team stalwart Weston Peick, who right now is still recovering from some pretty gnarly facial injuries suffered at the Paris Supercross last month. Peick won’t return to action until he’s 100-percent ready to go, so there will be only Reed and Hill on 450s for the team until further notice.
“Chad Reed is a consummate professional, and I see that he has that hunger to win,” said JGRMX/Yoshimura/Suzuki Factory Racing team manager Jeremy Albrecht. “I’m also eager to see Justin Hill race in the 450 class. The kid is an incredible talent. He has really ramped up his training program this off-season. I am looking forward to Weston Peick lining up to the gate when he’s healthy. Peick is a tough person and fierce competitor.”

In the 250cc class, the big news is that Alex Martin has joined the squad, undoubtedly using his many years of testing experience to help prepare the all-new 2019 Suzuki RM-Z450 for top-flight competition. Martin will be joined by returning racers Jimmy Decotis, Kyle Peters and young Enzo Lopes. Also new for 2019, besides the motorcycle, is that the 250cc squad will be adorned exclusively in Answer Racing gear.
“In the 250 class, we scored a win and three podiums with three different riders in our first year as Suzuki’s 250 factory effort in 2018,” Albrecht said. “With Decotis and Peters returning to the team, Lopes making his Supercross debut, and proven veteran Martin on the team, I expect bigger things in 2019. The all-new Suzuki RM-Z250 is an outstanding platform, and all of the guys are very happy with it.”
