Yamaha Factory Racing’s official test rider, Augusto Fernandez, will take part in the Grand Prix of the Netherlands as wild-card entry.

This is a press release from Yamaha…
The Yamaha Factory Racing Team will be back in action this weekend at the Grand Prix of the Netherlands, round 10 of the championship, held at the TT Circuit Assen.
Official test rider Augusto Fernández will make the most of the available track time to build on the work done earlier this season and further boost the Yamaha bike’s development.
Augusto Fernández and the Yamaha Factory Racing Team will take part in the Grand Prix of the Netherlands race weekend as a wild-card entry, with the aim of gathering valuable data for bike development.
Fernández, the 2022 Moto2 World Champion and a former premier-class rider (2023–2024), has enjoyed strong results at the TT Circuit Assen in the past. He secured a victory there in 2019, followed by a third place in 2021 and another win in 2022—all in the intermediate class.
TT Circuit Assen, built in 1955, has been a staple of the Motorcycle World Championship since 1949 (with the exception of 2020). Known as “The Cathedral of Speed,” the 4.54 km track features fast, flowing sections and a mix of high- and low-speed corners (six left and 12 right), with the famous Geert Timmer chicane providing a spectacular finale to each lap.

Augusto Fernandez – Yamaha Factory Racing Test Rider: “I’m excited to go racing again and continue our development work. Assen is a track that has been good to me in the past, so I‘m really looking forward to the weekend and making the most of the opportunity to keep improving the bike.”
