Out with the old, in with the new Kawasaki Ninja 400!
More power, less weight, new graphics and Euro 4 compliance. The new Kawasaki Ninja 400 promises to take the fight to the Yamaha YZF-R3, KTM RC390 and the Honda CBR500R in the junior sportbike category.
The old Ninja 300 is no more, its replacement a consequence of ever-tightening emissions regulations in Europe, but the new bike is boasting some impressive numbers.
The 370lb (claimed, curb) 400 will punch out about 44hp and 26lb-ft thanks to the increased capacity, with a new downdraft intake and a larger airbox, and it gets a new Slip and Assist clutch for a lighter lever pull.
Forks have been beefed up from 37mm to 41mm but it’s still not adjustable and a new Nissin caliper, larger front disc, and ABS unit.
Up front, the 400 gets an LED headlight, although the gas tank capacity has been reduced from 4.5 gal to 3.6 to save weight.
No pricing or availability has been made public by Kawasaki USA at this time.
