Abbott Clinches Hare & Hound Title

| August 18, 2008

Russ Pearson, riding his brother’s 2007 KTM 450 SX, won the AMA/FMF National Hare & Hound in Wendover, Utah, August 16. Pearson pretty much led it from start to finish and, at one point, enjoyed a 10-minuted lead, but it was Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Destry Abbott (pictured) who came home the big winner after clinching the 2008 Hare & Hound National Championship with still one round remaining on the schedule.

Second place went to KTM’s David Kamo in what was a career best finish for him, and third went to TJ Hannifin.

Fourth place went to Abbott, who stopped to aid a downed rider, teammate Josh Morros. “It was bad,” Abbott said of Morros’ fall. “I knew he might need a helicopter, so it didn’t matter about the race anymore. Once the ambulance was in sight, I got back on the bike so that I could get to out to the pits and let his father know what had happened.”

Multiple riders became lost near the end of the race, so results are still unofficial and could change.
