Lacey Takes Three BooKoo Mains

The points race for the BooKoo Arenacross Series tightened up after Josh Demuth, current points leader in both the 250 and 450 classes as well as the overall championship, turned in his worst performance of the year at round nine of the series in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Demuth’s performance was no doubt affected by an injury suffered during a mountain bike accident while training for the final rounds. The Babbitt Enxus Kawasaki-mounted rider ended the weekend in Charlotte with a fourth in the 250 Main and a 13th in the 450 Main on Friday night, and followed that up with a DNF in the 250 Main and a 16th in the 450 Main on Saturday.

Demuth now holds a 78-point lead (563-485) over Fun Center Troy Lee Designs/Suzuki-backed Shane Bess with two rounds (four nights) remaining, which might be a comfortable cushion for a healthy Demuth, but under the circumstances, could get quite interesting.

Bess continues to push towards the title and passed Team Sano Systems PPG Yamaha’s Tommy Hoffmaster for second overall in the series standings with a good performance in Charlotte. Bess won the 250 Main and took home second in the 450 Main on Friday night. On Saturday, he took a second in the 250 Main and sixth in the 450 Main.

However, it was BooKoo Honda’s Tiger Lacey who turned in the best performance in Charlotte after claiming wins in both 450 Main events and Friday’s 250 Main. Lacey moved up to sixth overall in the series with the performance.
