FIM President Jorge Viegas has issued a letter regarding FIM Sustainability Week, taking place from June 1-7, 2026.

Dear members of the FIM family,
Dear partners, promoters and friends of motorcycling,
It is my pleasure to invite you to the FIM Sustainability Week, taking place from June 1-7, 2026, marking the sixth anniversary of this strategic commitment that the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme has embraced with conviction, consistency and long-term vision.

This year, our Sustainability Week aligns naturally with World Environment Day 2026, dedicated to climate change under a powerful and timely message:
“The signals are clear. What comes next is up to us. #NowForClimate.”
Faced with this global challenge, the world of motorcycling has chosen to act with responsibility and leadership.
Over recent years, the FIM and its ecosystem have sent clear and credible signals of commitment:
- In MotoGP, significant progress has been achieved in the reduction of fossil fuel use, with a determined transition towards sustainable fuels and increasingly efficient technologies.
- The introduction and consolidation of electric motorcycles in disciplines such as Enduro and Trial demonstrate that technological innovation, sporting performance and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.
- The work of the FIM Sustainability Commission plays a central role in providing strategic guidance, developing robust frameworks and supporting championships, national federations and promoters, ensuring that sustainability is embedded in a structured, consistent and measurable way across our sport.
- Our championship promoters are making substantial investments and sustained efforts to measure, calculate and compensate the carbon footprint of events, reinforcing their commitment to transparency, accountability and continuous improvement.
- At event level, the KiSS (Keep it Shiny and Sustainable) Program continues to be a cornerstone of our approach, promoting responsible practices — particularly in the areas of sustainable mobility and transport, waste management and operational efficiency alongside our promotors strategies.
- Beyond competition, the motorcycle itself is part of the solution. As a mode of transport, it offers efficiency, low fuel consumption, reduced emissions and a tangible contribution to easing traffic congestion, especially in urban environments. Motorcycling is not only passion and sport; it is also a practical response to the challenges of sustainable mobility.
World Environment Day 2026 invites us to recognize the signals — and to send our own. To move from commitment to action. To move together.
During this Sustainability Week, I invite the entire FIM community to:
- Spark conversations that raise awareness.
- Support solutions driven by innovation and collaboration.
- Share stories that inspire and mobilize.
- Actively participate in global initiatives under the banner #NowForClimate.
Every action matters. Every decision sends a signal. Together, we can demonstrate that motor sport can play a leading role in shaping a more responsible and sustainable future.
The time is now. Now for Climate.
Yours sincerely,
Jorge Viegas
President
