Let’s do this, Daytona. SuperMotocross has taken over the infield of Daytona International Speedway for the annual Daytona Supercross. This race is unlike any other and usually sets the tone for the rest of the season. Last week saw two first-time winners in Hunter Lawrence and Pierce Brown, with both riders leading their respective championships. Who will set the stage tonight in the sand? Follow along to find out!

Eli Tomac’s done it again. The Daytona Dominator made it eight total wins at the toughest Supercross race of the year. It didn’t come easy though as he started behind the two front runners and made his way through to the lead. Tomac passed around Hunter Lawrence in the sand and then Ken Roczen on the same lap as the two crossed the finish line simultaneously. He continued to push the pace once he slotted into the lead and never relinquished. This marks Tomac’s fourth win of the year and puts him one point behind Hunter Lawrence in the overall standings.

The records add up further as this is the fourth different brand he’s won on at Daytona and puts Tomac just 15 race wins behind Jeremy McGrath’s all-time record of 72. “I had to work for it there tonight,” Tomac said. “I went through all my main competition and just had a great time on my motorcycle. I love spraying these sand turns, I’m so thankful to get it done with Red Bull KTM, and to make up some championship points this weekend.”

Hunter Lawrence held on for second in the 450 main event. Both Lawrence and Roczen battled early on in the race with Roczen holding the advantage. Hunter was the fastest rider on track for a majority of the race but never managed to get around Roczen. This spelled trouble once Tomac made his way through as Lawrence dropped back to third momentarily. He picked up the pace and finally made his way around Roczen with six laps left. Lawrence made a late-race run and set the fastest times in six of the last seven laps but was unable to close the gap to Tomac. He still holds the red plate by one point for another week.

“I was figuring out where to compensate with the bike and it just took me too long to do that,” Lawrence said. “In the end I was kind of making it [bike setup] work, but it was too late and Eli [Tomac] got his eighth win here. I really wanted to stop that tonight, but I couldn’t make up the difference.”

Ken Roczen took third at the checkered flag. He opted not to run the scoop tire but still led the first six laps of the race before eventually losing the spot to Tomac right at the finish line. Roczen stayed close to the lead but again found himself under threat from Lawrence. He made it another six laps before Lawrence sealed the deal and stole second away. This result marks Roczen’s fifth podium of the year and bumps him back to third in points, again tied with Cooper Webb.

“I gave it my best out there and led for a bunch,” Roczen said. “I had a really good start too and in the Main Event that really counts. I was searching a little bit in the beginning, it was a tricky track and a lot faster than what we’ve seen the past few years here. Once I got passed, I knew those guys were maybe a little bit faster, so I tried to hang on and follow some lines. I was right there until the end and just got messed up by some lappers and those guys got away a little bit. I just wasn’t the best tonight, but I’m happy with a podium.”

Cooper Webb started up front but finished a lonely fourth. “Pretty uneventful night for me but always love racing here,” Webb said. “Ready for another shot next week.”

Joey Savatgy turned up the heat as he qualified third overall and later finished fifth in the 450 main. Aaron Plessinger, Garrett Marchbanks, Shane McElrath, Justin Hill, and Malcolm Stewart completed the top 10.

250SX MAIN EVENT
Seth Hammaker dominated the 250SX Main Event for his first win of the season. The Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider grabbed the holeshot and never relinquished during the 15-plus-one race. Jo Shimoda pressured him early on but Hammaker continued to pull away as the race wore on. A big crash for Shimoda virtually sealed the deal for Hammaker as his gap to second was too big to overcome. This is his best finish of the young season and comes after a big crash during qualifying. He’s now two points out of the lead heading to Indianapolis.

Cole Davies finished on the podium in second place. The Star Racing Yamaha rider started back in ninth but laid down a series of hot laps as he pushed his way into the top five. Davies was the fastest rider on track for most of the race and made a critical pass when Shimoda crashed in the sand. A second for Davies marks his best finish of 2026 and bumps him up in the points.

Pierce Brown rounded out the podium in third. He followed his Star Racing Yamaha teammate Davies onto the box after starting fifth. Brown found himself in a heated battle between Davies and Drew Adams but eventually moved into a podium position once Shimoda dropped. Brown still leads the overall points standings by two over Seth Hammaker.

Jo Shimoda ran second for most of the race but crashed in the sand with two minutes left on the race clock. He finished fourth with Daxton Bennick rounding out the top five.

QUALIFYING
Hunter Lawrence is the fastest qualifier here in Daytona. The points leader posted the fastest lap in both sessions and is looking to put his best foot forward as he continues to hold the 450 points lead. Don’t forget Lawrence won his first 450 main event one week ago and is no doubt riding that confidence into this weekend. Lawrence was the only rider to post a 1:14, six-tenths clear of second place. Eli Tomac was still second overall and is no doubt the man to beat when it comes to Daytona. Joey Savatgy had his best qualifying session of the year as he grabbed a top time with in P3, seven-tenths off Tomac in second. Last year’s winner Ken Roczen and Justin Cooper rounded out the top five.

Drew Adams set the time to beat in the 250 class. The Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider – who is sporting some one-off Morgan Wallen graphics – looked impressive as he started up front in Q2 and strung together multiple fast laps. His time put him atop the leaderboard by seven-tenths. Last week’s winner Pierce Brown was second overall and the only other rider besides Adams to post a 1:17. Daxton Bennick finished on the podium in Arlington and was third overall in qualifying at Daytona ahead of Caden Dudney and Jo Shimoda.
