New York Motocross Fans had a Great View of the 500cc MX National Start

In this week’s Throwback, we dial back the clock to June of 1981 and the start of the first moto in the AMA 500cc Motocross National Championship at Broome-Tioga Sports Center in Binghamton, New York. Pennsylvania’s Gary Pustelak (50) got a great start on his Husqvarna as a throng of fans look on. Pustelak laughed about surprising himself, saying he normally didn’t even get holeshots in local races. Leading riders near the front in the shot included Billy Grossi (35), Alan King (43), Arlo Englund (15), Rick Sidle (76) and others. Chuck Sun worked his way to the front to win the national that day over Mike Bell and King.
