ELKHART LAKE, WI, MAY 31 – Monster Energy Graves Yamaha’s Josh Hayes rebounded in the second MotoAmerica Superbike/Superstock 1000 race at Road America to earn his fourth race of the season. The reigning champ is now tied in race wins with Cameron Beaubier, but unfortunately lost some of the ground he gained at VIR in the points race (trailing by 26 points) after his crash in race one.
Rookie Jake Lewis earned his second third-place finish of the weekend for the Yoshimura Suzuki squad, finishing ahead of his teammate Roger Hayden in race two. Rounding out the top five Superbike was Danny Eslick on the TTR Honda, who edged out HMC KTM’s Chris Fillmore in the draft to the finish line.
RoadRace Factory’s Jake Gagne pulled off the double in the Superstock 1000 class, finishing fifth overall. Like Hayes, TOBC Racing’s Taylor Knapp also had a much better race two, finishing second after a technical issue in race one. Joining the Yamaha’s on the podium was Aprilia HSBK Racing’s Sheridan Morais, who earned two-podium finishes in his MotoAmerica debut. Rounding out the top five in the stocker class was Chisum/Motul Racing’s Tyler O’Hara and Ryders Alley Racing’s Mark Heckles.
