Sexton To Miss Remaining 2026 SMX Season

Ryan Nitzen | June 19, 2026

Not the news we wanted to see just ahead of round four of the 2026 Pro Motocross Championship but Chase Sexton will miss the remainder of the 2026 racing season. The Monster Energy Kawasaki rider suffered a huge fall during last Friday’s press day riding session at the Thunder Valley National in Lakewood, Colorado. Sexton, the 2024 Pro Motocross champion, jumped off the bike just before landing and sustained a torn ACL in the crash.

Chase Sexton suffered a torn ACL during his crash in Colorado and will miss the remainder of the 2026 racing season.

“2026 racing season has unfortunately come to an end,” Sexton wrote on social media, “Got the news last night that’s I have a torn ACL from my crash last week that will need surgery. After all the struggles of this year this one felt like I got punched straight in the stomach I’m not going to lie, it  hurts me to even type this out. With that being said, I’m going to take this an opportunity to do things I normally don’t get to do this summer and enjoy it with my friends and family. As far as racing goes I’m also looking forward to this comeback story and this one is going to be personal. For me as a rider I have a lot left to prove and I’m going to take full advantage of it. ‘27 will be fun. For now I’m going to enjoy life and maybe see y’all at some races in the future as a fan. Thank you.”

“Got the news last night that’s I have a torn ACL from my crash last week that will need surgery,” Sexton said.

The Monster Energy Kawasaki team also put out an announcement, although with less details. “Following last week’s crash at Thunder Valley, Chase Sexton has been diagnosed with a torn ACL and will be sidelined for the remainder of the year.”

Sexton finished sixth in the Monster Energy Supercross Championship with two wins coming at Anaheim 2 and the finale in Salt Lake City. He’s raced two of the three Pro Motocross rounds and currently sits 11th in the standings after finishing sixth overall at Fox Raceway and seventh overall at Hangtown.

Looks like this is the last we’ll see of the number-four this year.
