Cody Webb made history at the Moab Hard Enduro at Area BFE by winning the race aboard his Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Yamaha YZ250X. This victory marked the BluCru’s first U.S. Hard Enduro win, signifying a monumental moment for both Webb and Yamaha.

Webb’s victory, however, did not come easily, as a returning Trystan Hart and a charging Will Riordan challenged the veteran until the very end. Webb’s triumph in round four of the Bullet Proof Designs U.S. Hard Enduro Series, presented by IRC Tire, marked the fourth different winner in the first four rounds of the 2025 season.
The Moab Hard Enduro at Area BFE is only in its second year but has quickly become one of the most popular races on the West Coast. Led by USHE athletes Mesa Lange and Joe Nemeth and located just 15 minutes south of the off-road mecca of Moab, Utah, this venue offers challenging terrain for all levels of hard enduro racers. The course includes sandstone slabs, tricky singletrack, relentless creek beds, and canyon boulder fields that are considered some of the toughest 4×4 trails in the United States.

After a one-round absence, four-time USHE Champion Trystan Hart returned in strong form to compete against a stacked field. Rockstar Husqvarna’s Ryder LeBlond was coming off his first USHE win at the Grinding Stone Hard Enduro. Webb leveraged his knowledge of Area BFE to his advantage after winning this event last year, while Sherco USA’s Will Riordan and IRC Beta’s James Flynn have been pushing up front all season.
On the first day, a simple Prologue race, approximately six miles long, set the row positions for the main race on Saturday. This course introduced the unique high desert terrain to the racers while also providing additional riding time for the Amateur-class racers. Will Riordan won the Prologue, completing the course in 23 minutes. The race had a three-hour time limit, which some Amateurs utilized for the full duration on the first day of racing. Following the Prologue, they hosted a kid’s E-Bike race featuring mini enduro obstacles with Webb as the announcer. After the E-Bike race, the Moab Hard Enduro invited the top 20 Prologue finishers to compete in a cash-paying Shootout at their main-event area, resembling a natural terrain skatepark for hard enduro. Four groups of five riders battled it out in front of cheering spectators, tackling big splatters and navigating the sandstone course. Ultimately, Webb triumphed in the final race of the Shootout, earning him starting-row priority for Saturday’s main race.

On the second day, the main race involved a three-lap course with a six-hour time limit, featuring multiple splits and more challenging sections added on laps two and three. The green flag dropped, and the rows of riders took off with one-minute intervals between them. During the first checkpoint, the six leading riders were only 20 seconds apart, setting the stage for a very close race. After lap one, Hart was leading Riordan and Webb by 30 seconds.
Lap two brought more excitement and changes in the lead as Amateurs navigated their first lap, creating some lapped traffic for the front-runners. By the end of the second lap, the racers faced Black Flag, a treacherous canyon that introduced a mile of steep hills and large boulder canyons. The lead changed hands multiple times during lap two, but it was Webb who entered his third lap just six seconds ahead of Hart. The lead traded back and forth a couple more times in the third lap, with Webb and Hart engaged in a fierce battle through even more traffic.
On lap three, Black Flag revealed a final gate that sent racers up the steepest and most perilous section of the course. Webb entered Black Flag with a 90-second lead on Hart, but Hart made a strong effort and was right behind Webb at the last rock slab. Nevertheless, Webb maintained his lead through the finish, winning the Moab Hard Enduro just seven seconds ahead of a charging Hart. Will Riordan finished in third, trailing 10 minutes behind the leaders.
This was Cody Webb’s first win of the 2025 U.S. Hard Enduro season, marking Yamaha and IRC Tire’s first USHE Premier Championship victory as partners with Webb.

Louise Forsley won the Pro Women’s class, with Pebs Madolora and Addy Albrecht completing the podium. Over a dozen women participated in the Moab Hard Enduro, with IRC Tire donating a Gekkota tire to each female competitor in the Amateur Women’s class. In the Amateur ranks, Niko Piazza took first in the A class, while Coran Calvert and Maverik Thaxton rounded out the Amateur podium.
The next USHE Premier Championship race heads back to the East Coast for the Battle of the Goats at the Brushy Mountain Motorsports Park in North Carolina on April 26-27.
