Billy Bolt came away with the overall win in Riesa, Germany, January 7, for round two of the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship. But it wasn’t pretty.

Billy Bolt, on the factory-back Husqvarna, had to make up for several mistakes and tip-overs before he could snatch the first-place trophy.
In the first of three races, Bolt got caught out by the track’s sand section but still managed to come away with the win ahead of series rival Jonny Walker (Beta) and American Cody Webb (FactoryOne Sherco).
Bolt’s crash in moto two cost him a possible win. He crashed into the track’s bridge section while dicing for the lead with Walker, who went on to take the win ahead of Taddy Blazusiak (GasGas) and Walker.

In the deciding final moto, Bolt again bit the dust on the bridge section, spotting his rivals 15 seconds. But that still wasn’t enough to secure the win for Walker. Bolt had come up through the pack and passed Walker on the last lap to take the race win and overall victory.
“I made life hard for myself tonight, but I’m happy to have come out on top in the end,” Bolt said. “It was pretty hectic on track all night and to be honest I made too many stupid mistakes. I hold my hands up for that. The speed was there, but with only one good line on the track mistakes were easily made. Maybe tonight was about shaking off that Christmas break, but I feel like I have room to improve for round three. Overall, I’ve finished on top of the podium and extended my points leads, so I’m happy with the outcome.”
Walker took second overall with 2-1-2 results, and Blazusiak filled out the podium with 7-2-3 results.

“It was tough night, but it ended great,” Blazusiak said. “I wasn’t happy with how round one went, so I wanted to improve and bounce back from that. In race one I was in third but then crashed on the rocks and dropped back to last. I regrouped and got seventh there. For the rest of the night, I was just fighting as hard as I could. I’m super happy to come through for third overall and finish on the podium.”
Webb went 3-4-5 for fourth overall. “Overall, it was a positive night in Riesa,” said Webb. “A wild final moto with getting crashed into, and crashing myself, kicked me off the podium.”

Alfredo Gomez rounded out the top five.
Sixth overall went to American Cooper Abbott. His results improved slightly with each race after going 10-8-7.
“The night started off rough with a poor qualifying run which gave me a bad gate pick,” said Abbott. “That led to bad starts and constantly having to come through the pack. I made good passes all night but unfortunately seemed like I always ended up in the wrong spot at the wrong time which cost me a ton of spots overall. I felt great on the bike, but it just didn’t transpire into the results. Plain and simple, I got my butt whooped!”
In the Championship, Bolt leads Walker by 14 points and Blazusiak by 15 points. Webb is 17 points in back of Bolt. CN
