Honda’s Wosick Won the First Moto Battle, but Suzuki’s Reid Rallied to Win the Second
In this week’s Throwback we dial back the clock 40 years to March of 1982. Joan Jett & The Blackhearts topped the radio charts with “I Love Rock ‘N Roll”, the raunchy, low-budget comedy “Porky’s” topped the box office and gas was a $1.22 per gallon. And that month the 1982 AMA Motocross National Championship opened at Hangtown, near Sacramento, California. This photo shows two of the main players in the muddy 250cc class that day. It’s Suzuki’s Warren Reid leading Team Honda’s Larry Wosick. Wosick got by Reid and won the battle of the first moto, finishing third to Reid’s fifth. But Reid recovered spectacularly and raced his works Suzuki RH250 to victory in the second moto. Wosick finished sixth. Reid’s (5-1) put him second overall to Yamaha’s Rick Johnson that day. Wosick’s (3-6) earned him fourth overall.
