Foothill Ranch, CA (July 2, 2019) – The 52nd annual Monster Energy® Mammoth Motocross took place this past week in Mammoth Lakes, California. Collectively, Kawasaki riders took home 12 first place big bear trophies and 45 small bear trophies handed out to the top-10 finishers in each class and together, the roster of the Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green riders finished with four AMA Championships.
Jeremy McGrath, the King of Supercross entered in the 40+ A class and the Vintage 2 (76-89) classes where he won five out of the six races he competed in. Over the past several months McGrath has been working on building a special vintage motorcycle, a 1989 KX500, and that very bike made its racing debut at the Smoke and Fire Vintage 2 (76-89) race where all 500cc of that KX™ machine smoked its competitors up and down Mammoth Mountain.
Ryder DiFrancesco and Chance Hymas took over the racing duties for Team Green when the Mini days kicked off at Mammoth Mountain and they did not disappoint. DiFrancesco took on the challenge of competing in four classes aboard his KX™85 and KX™100 motorcycles and was able to take home the championship in the Mini Sr 2 (10-15) class. Team Green teammate Hymas was a constant front-runner and podium threat each day, finishing in the Supermini 1 (12-15) with a third place overall and a fourth place overall in the Supermini 2 (13-16).
As the event switched gears to the Big Bike days, Stilez Robertson was ready to showcase his ability and speed for the first time at Mammoth Mountain on his KX™250. Robertson entered in three classes including Schoolboy 2, 250 B and the 250 B/C Open, where he was able to win five out of six motos and captured two overall championships. Robertson also made sure that he did not miss out on a single holeshot all weekend long as he went six for six with his starts.
For nearly 40 years, Kawasaki’s Team Green trackside support crew has traveled across the United States to over 40 events per year, providing unparalleled support to all riders. This past week, the crew was out in full force servicing and tuning bikes all week long to prepare riders for the high elevation and unique layout of the Mammoth Motocross venue.
