2019 Triumph Street Scrambler First Look—Since its inception for the 2017 model year, the Triumph Street Scrambler has been known as a fantastic motorcycle. One of the most potent “scramblers” on the market, if you will. The best part? Triumph announced at this year’s Intermot show that it will receive a host of influential upgrades for 2019.

Triumph’s engine department had to do with a large portion of the Street Scrambler’s updates. This means that the 900cc SOHC twin-engine sees a ten-horsepower boost (now up to a claimed 65 horsepower) and gets an extra 500 rpm before hitting its rev limiter. Selectable riding modes (Rain and Road) have also been added to the Scrambler’s package, which complements the switchable ABS and traction control systems that are carried over from the previous iteration.
Aimed at extracting more off-road prowess out of the Scrambler, Triumph fitted the motorcycle “higher-specification” cartridge forks up front, which offers a full 120mm of travel to tackle the gravel fire roads. A new four-piston Brembo brake caliper has also been fitted to the Scrambler to improve stopping power. Both of these upgrades were ones that we longed for since our first miles on the Street Scrambler. So, thank you, Triumph. These upgrades could be what sets the Triumph apart from the rest of its competition.
The 2019 model year sees the Triumph Street Scrambler available in three colorways—Fusion White, Cranberry Red, or Khaki Green and Matte Aluminum. These distinctive colors complement a number of slight visual changes, including a more contemporary logo, premium instrument styling, and a more adventure-oriented seat finish. An Urban Tracker kit is also offered for those wanting to further separate the Street Scrambler from the rest. This includes a 6.6-gallon pannier, Vance & Hines slip-on muffler, black handlebar brace, number plate kit, and many other small pieces.
Scrambling season just got more exciting. We’re ready for you, Triumph. Michael Gilbert
