The Alpinestars Stadium Shoe – perfect for the street rider looking to stand out! $169.95
Italian apparel giants, Alpinestars, have released details about their upcoming 2016 range with a host of developments drawn from their experience in MotoGP, World and AMA motocross. There’s over 50 parts that make up the new Alpinestars range, which can all be viewed by going to www.alpinestars.com, but the range won’t be online until Monday, August 24.
Here’s a few of Cycle News’ favorite pieces from the 2016 catalogue.
The Supertech R’s won’t make you faster, but they will make you a lot safer (not to mention looking good)!
The road range is highlighted by the new Supertech R raceboot, developed in conjunction with riders like Alpinestars poster boy Marc Marquez. The Supertech R’s development has been focused on improving feel through the footpegs to the rider, with a new rubber sole and updates to the shinplate and a redesign of the front flex area.
The Supertech R also features a new soft TPU stretch panel that runs down the side of the boot to further help flexibility and ensures a tight fit. The zip itself has a Velcro tab that helps lock it closed, ensuring it’s safe and secure in the event of an accident.
The Supertech R’s inner boot has also been redesigned and has 20 percent fiberglass in the construction of the heel, while the outer brace ensures the ankle will be free to move to give a good range of movement with the foot and lower leg.
As you’d expect the Supertech R boot is CE certified, and will set you back $499.95 for the pair.
The Atem series is not far off what you’ll see Jorge and Marc wearing on Sundays.
Another highlight for the road range is the new Atem series, which comes in both a one and two-piece construction. The Atem is Alpinestar’s premium race suit and the new-for-2016 range sees newly developed bi-directional accordion leather stretch insert panels on the back and legs, ensuring a greater range of movement as well as a snug, tight fit. The suit itself is made from 1.3mm bovine leather and comes with a newly designed aerodynamic hump that’s vented to provide extra cooling to the rider in the heat of battle. The Atem features removable CE-certified, race developed GP-R internal protectors and you can fit snap-lock in the Alpinestars Bionic Back Protector, available as an accessory.
The Atem Leather one-piece race suit will set you back $1499.95 ($1299.95 for the two-piece option) and comes in three colors (red/black, white/black and white/yellow).
If you just want the Atem jacket, that will set you back $799.95, but this is also available in an all-black color scheme.
This is the new Alpinestars Durban Gore-Tex jacket that should find plenty of favor with riders heading off the beaten track. $799.95
New riders are going to love the Tech 1 series
On the motocross side, the item that caught our attention the most was the new Tech 1 motocross boot. This is a boot aimed at the beginner rider and someone who might not need all the features of the company’s flagship MX boot, the Tech 10.
The Tech 1 uses some of the DNA from the Tech 10 like the buckle closure system, and new microfiber front and rear flex inserts for added control and range of movement when on the bike. To this end, the Tech 1 features the bio-mechanical medial ‘flexi-blade’ system, designed to give increased front and rear movement while still helping to protect the ankle and shin.
One of the best things about the Tech 1 is the price, with a suggested retail of $199.95, making it one of the most competitive boots on the market.
The full range of Alpinestars gear, including the new color range for the Tech 1,5, 7, 8 and 10 boots, can be viewed at www.alpinestars.com from August 24 onwards.
The new range of colors for the Alpinestars Tech MX boot range look pretty cool in the metal!
