Day two from the 4th Annual 2014 James Stewart Freestone Spring Championship hasn’t disappointed.
Alexander Frye was the talk of the morning as he led his Orange Brigade KTM to a win in the 250 B Modified division. The young man’s performance led him to the checkered flag with over a 12-second lead on his competitors.
“The race went really well, the track was very rutted and rough,” Frye said. “They watered it before the 250 C moto, so it made it pretty slick out there for mine. When I was going around on my sighting lap, I knew I had to get the holeshot and stay out of harm’s way, which I did. I pulled an eight-second lead on the first lap, got real comfortable and just rode a really solid race to the checkered flag.”
Austin Forkner of the Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green continues to dominate his classes, going two for two of his first two motos of the week – Supermini 1 (12-15) and Supermini 2 (13-16).
“Things have been going really good so far,” said Forkner. “I’ve been getting really good starts which is key. This morning was an early moto so the track was in great shape. My second moto was this afternoon and the track dried out a lot and was a bit hard packed and really rutted. It took me a few laps to adjust to the conditions this afternoon, but when I did, things came around and I ended the day with two wins.”
Challen Tennant came up the big winner in a hard-fought battle to the end in the Schoolboy 1 division.
“My Orange Brigade KTM performed great out there today,” said Tennant. “The track was sick; it was really tacky for my moto. I had a blast. I was in second place for about three or four laps then made the move on [Sean] Cantrell on the inside. I zipped right by him then led the rest of the race with Masterpool behind me. He was riding really well. If I would have made a small mistake he would have been right there. He kept me on my toes but I held him off and got the win.”
The 250 A and 450 A Pro Sport events were, once again, some of the most highly contested races of the day. And, once again, it was the Rock River Yamaha of Aaron Plessinger who took the win in the 250 A Pro Sport moto two. Plessinger is now only one moto away from claiming the 250 A class championship.
Justin Hoeft took second in 250 A moto two, followed by Keith Tucker in third, Zachary Commans in fourth, and Kyler West rounding out the top five.
The 450 A Pro Sport moto two saw the Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green bike of Chris Alldredge out front early. Alldredge showed pure dominance once again to take the win for the second day in a row. Like Plessinger in the 250 A, Alldredge and his Kawasaki have only one moto left tomorrow to take the championship.
Top five in the 450 A moto two went: Alldredge, Luke Renzland, Ricky Renner, Zachary Commans and Keith Tucker.
Additional winners throughout the day include, Branden Walther (65cc 10-11 Mod), Conner Mullennix (85cc 12-14 Mod), Benny Bloss (450 B/C), Hannah Hodges (Women’s Am 14+), Justin Boyd (250C Mod), Stilez Robertson (85cc 9-11 Mod) and Haiden Deegan (51cc Limited 6-7).
