Long-time desert racer Nick Burson captured his first ever AMA National Championship Hare & Hound victory when he crossed the finish line in first place at the 64th running of the Four Aces MC Moose Run National Hare & Hound (round two of the 2014 National Series). It was also the first National win for the Italian manufacturer Beta and the Purvines Racing Beta Team.

Burson, on the Motul/GPR Stabilizers/Klim-backed 498 RR, grabbed the early lead and never looked back, though he felt pressure from a number of his challengers. In the end, Burson crossed the finish line just five seconds ahead of opening-round winner Ivan Ramirez on the FMF KTM.

Third place went to Precision Concepts/THR Motorsports Kawasaki’s Ricky Brabec. It was a career-best finish for Brabec.

Purvines Racing Beta’s Justin Morrow and Axel Pearson rounded out the top five overall.

Sixth went to Skyler Howes on the Blais Racing Services KTM, while seventh went to 250 Expert winner Ryan Smith.

Vet Expert winner Morgan Crawford took eighth, followed by Brandon Prieto and Open Expert winner Ty Renshaw, who completed the top 10 overall.

Kariya spends way too much time in the desert, but we’re glad he does as he’s the man who gets us our coverage of all things sandy.
