AURORA, Ill. (November 19, 2013) – Following a successful debut season as the official online powersports retailer of AMSOIL Arenacross, featuring Ricky Carmichael’s Road to Supercross, longtime motorsports supporters Rocky Mountain ATV/MC return for the upcoming 2014 season by introducing the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Contender Award.

The Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Contender Award will be presented to competitors in each class during the 2014 AMSOIL Arenacross season that showcase the speed and talent to be a contender, but fell short of qualifying for the Main Event. The third place finisher in both the premier Arenacross Class and Arenacross Lites Class Last Chance Qualifiers (LCQ’s) will receive $200 and $100, respectively, for their determined efforts. Whether it’s a case of misfortune or just bad luck, the eventual winners of this award gave it their all to the very end, fighting to overcome any adversity for a chance to be eligible to claim coveted championship points.

“We are very excited to have Rocky Mountain ATV/MC back on-board with AMSOIL Arenacross for their second year,” said Todd Jendro, Vice President of Two Wheel Operations, Feld Motor Sports®. “In the unpredictable world of AMSOIL Arenacross, any rider could be put into this position and this award recognizes those riders who are right on the edge of qualifying for the main event.”

With many competitors operating on constraining budgets, any additional money can go a long way to racing an entire season. The introduction of the Contender Award will likely play into the favor of the racing plans for a portion of the AMSOIL Arenacross field while also adding another exciting competitive element to the already important LCQ’s.

“At Rocky Mountain ATV/MC, we don’t just want to cheer the top winners race after race; we also want to highlight the everyday rider on the cusp of their career breakthrough,” said Dan Thomas, Rocky Mountain ATV/MC CEO. “That’s why we’re proud to present the 2014 Contender Award to the third place finisher of the Last Chance Qualifier during every night of action this season.”

In total, the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Contender Award will provide $5,700 over the course of 19 nights of action for the 2014 AMSOIL Arenacross season. Rocky Mountain ATV/MC is a one-stop, online powersports store that is a leader in providing off-road enthusiasts with the largest selection of off-road parts, apparel and accessories at the lowest prices.

The 2014 AMSOIL Arenacross season kicks off with two nights of action on January 3rd and 4th from the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass.
