They’re here! The 2027 KTM SX-F Factory Edition Models have officially been announced and for the first time since 2022 we have an all-new Factory Edition model. The FE comes chock-full of extra goodies but it also gives customers a look into what the 2028 production bikes will look and feel like. Let’s get into what’s new on both the 250 and 450 SX-F models.

No more air forks. New WP XACT spring forks come standard.

Updates to the chassis means an all-new steel frame. KTM says the frame is lighter with less mass and a different geometry for the new model year. A new steering head and new engine mounting points complement a new aluminum subframe which is set to be the “lightest to emerge from the factory.” KTM updated the stiffness for 2027.5 with the goal of maintaining prime agility, stability and feedback. New ergonomics makes for a slimmer overall profile with increased leg contact area. A new seat design and updates to the footpegs complete the chassis.

The 250 SX-F Factory Edition is also all-new for 2027.

The engine layouts are new with a larger exhaust systems to meet the new 109-decibel rule in AMA Pro Racing.

A new spring fork comes standard on both of the FE models. The WP XACT Closed Cartridge Spring fork and shock are new designs for the Austrian machines which have traditionally come with WP’s trademark air forks. Note the off-road race bikes do come with spring forks and the brand is now taking that technology over to the motocross models. KTM says with the new suspension they have “achieved a higher standard for nimbleness, stability and wider compliance and predictable feedback, regardless of the riding conditions.”

The 27.5 models give customers a look at what the standard ’28 will look like.

As for the engine, both bikes now meet the 109-decibel sound rule for AMA Pro Racing. Redesigning the air intakes and exhaust systems helped achieve this and you’ll see the new resonator header pipe along with a larger exhaust muffler. Internally, KTM says the 250 SX-F now features an oval throttle body with oval intake ports, a top feed injector, and an entirely redesigned valve train. Compression now hits 15.5:1 and the rev limiter has been raised 14,500. The engine is also moved up 2.3 mm higher in the frame. For the 450, peak power output is now a claimed 63.8 hp at 10,000 rpm along with 52 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. Weight was trimmed from the gearboxes and a new ECU processes information faster with more advanced algorithms. This will influence the ignition, fueling, and gear-dependent mapping for improved rideability as well as improved Quickshifter functionality.

Dual injectors helped add power.

Like Factory Edition models in year’s past, the 2027’s come standard with Brembo brakes, Neken triple clamps and handlebars, a WP start device, Excel wheels, ODI lock on grips, a Selle Dalla Valle seat cover, and factory inspired racing graphics.
