Ryan Vickers enjoyed a breakthrough weekend at Thruxton on August 15-16, taking two victories for Honda Racing UK as the seventh round of the 2026 British Superbike Championship produced three closely fought races and a reshuffled championship picture.
Kyle Ryde (Nitrous Coin Nitrous Competitions Racing Ducati) opened the weekend with victory in Saturday’s race one, leading when the race was red-flagged at the start of lap 17 following a crash involving Max Cook (AJN Steelstock bimota) and Leon Haslam (Moto Rapido Racing Ducati), the former taken to hospital after suffering a nasty concussion.
Ryde took the win ahead of Rory Skinner (Cheshire Mouldings Yamaha) and Vickers, who claimed his first podium of the season. Bradley Ray (McAMS Yamaha) finished fourth, with Scott Redding (Hager PBM Racing Team Ducati) fifth.
Vickers went one better in Sunday’s 12-lap sprint, emerging from a frantic five-rider battle to claim Honda’s first BSB victory in nearly a year. Redding led the opening laps before Ryde, Ray and Haslam all took turns at the front. Vickers steadily worked his way forward, taking the lead late and holding off Redding by 0.266 of a second. Ray completed the podium, with Ryde fourth and Haslam fifth.
The final race was another Thruxton classic, with Skinner leading for much of the contest before Ray moved to the front with four laps remaining. Vickers remained in contention, however, and the Honda rider retook the lead on the final lap before Ray made his move at Campbell. Vickers immediately responded, diving underneath Ray at Club to secure his second victory of the weekend by 0.075 of a second. Ryde finished third, with Haslam fourth and Skinner fifth.
The double win moved Vickers to fifth in the championship with 199 points, while Ryde retained the lead with 348. Redding sits second on 301, with Ray third on 257 and Haslam fourth on 223.CN
