Laughlin, NV (October 8, 2026) — The American Off-Road Racing Championship (AORC) announced today that legendary punk rock musician, entrepreneur, Punk Rock Museum co-founder, and longtime NOFX frontman Fat Mike has been named Grand Marshal of the 2026 Laughlin Desert Classic, taking place October 15–18 in Laughlin, Nevada.
One of the most recognizable and influential figures in punk rock, Fat Mike spent more than four decades fronting NOFX while also founding Fat Wreck Chords and helping build an independent music culture that has influenced generations of musicians and fans around the world.
Fat Mike’s appearance at the Laughlin Desert Classic came together through Team Real Racing, whose race program is built on a shared passion for creating unique opportunities. In addition to his Grand Marshal duties, Fat Mike will ride along for a few laps in the #3 Team Real Racing AWD Unlimited Truck, experiencing firsthand the speed, power, and intensity of off-road racing.
Fat Mike is also one of the driving forces behind The Punk Rock Museum in Las Vegas, a one-of-a-kind museum dedicated to preserving and celebrating the history, artifacts, music, and culture of punk rock. Located just 90 miles north of Laughlin, the museum has become a destination for punk fans from around the world and gives Fat Mike a unique connection to Nevada.
As Grand Marshal, Fat Mike will join racers and fans in Laughlin for the AORC season finale, participate in official race festivities, meet fans, and help send competitors into battle during one of the most spectator-friendly off-road races in America.

“Punk rock and off-road racing have way more in common than most people realize,” said AORC CEO Matt Martelli. “They were both built by people who didn’t wait for permission. They created their own culture, built their own machines, started their own companies, and did things their own way. Fat Mike has lived that ethos his entire career. Between NOFX, Fat Wreck Chords and what he has created with The Punk Rock Museum right here in Nevada, he is a perfect fit for the Laughlin Desert Classic. We’re stoked to have him as our Grand Marshal.”
The connection between punk rock and off-road racing runs deep. Both cultures were born from independent thinking, creativity, rebellion, and a strong DIY mentality. From garages and race shops to clubs and independent record labels, both have grown through communities of people committed to doing things differently.
Fat Mike has been at the center of that movement for decades.
Beyond NOFX, he founded influential independent label Fat Wreck Chords and helped create The Punk Rock Museum in Las Vegas, which houses an extensive collection of instruments, clothing, handwritten lyrics, artwork, photographs, flyers and other artifacts documenting decades of punk rock history. More than a traditional museum, it was created by members of the punk community to tell their own history in their own way.
Now Fat Mike brings that same independent spirit to Laughlin.
The 2026 Laughlin Desert Classic will serve as the season finale of the American Off-Road Racing Championship, bringing many of the fastest off-road racers in North America to the banks of the Colorado River for a full weekend of racing, entertainment, and off-road culture. Unlike traditional long-distance desert races, Laughlin’s multi-lap format gives spectators repeated opportunities to watch the action as race vehicles battle through the desert surrounding Laughlin. Race week will also include the two-day Laughlin Off-Road Festival, October 16–17, bringing race vehicles, aftermarket manufacturers, displays, racers, fans, and the off-road industry together in the heart of Laughlin.
Fat Mike joins a growing list of legendary racers, athletes, entertainers, musicians and cultural icons who have participated in AORC, BITD and UNLTD events as Grand Marshals and special guests. Fans are encouraged to come to Laughlin, meet Fat Mike, experience the Off-Road Festival, watch the racing, and celebrate the conclusion of the American Off-Road Racing Championship season.
