Friday MotoGP

Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) continued his Sachsenring dominance by topping Friday Practice with a 1:19.394, putting himself in prime position to chase a record-extending 10th MotoGP victory at the circuit. Raul Fernandez (SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team) finished second, with Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) completing the top three.

As expected it was Marc Marquez who topped the Friday riding in Germany.

Early in the session, Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) led from Marc Marquez and Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP), while Franco Morbidelli (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) was investigated after impeding Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) at Turn 7. Later improvements from Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP), Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), Di Giannantonio, Enea Bastianini (Red Bull KTM Tech3), Luca Marini and Joan Mir shuffled the order, leaving Acosta and Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) outside the provisional Q2 positions.

Raul Fernandez (25) leads Fabio Di Giannantonio (49) on the track and on the timesheets on Friday.

With under 15 minutes remaining, the pace intensified as Marc Marquez became the first rider into the 1:19s before Jack Miller (Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP) matched his time exactly. Di Giannantonio then briefly went quickest with a 1:19.674 before Marc Marquez responded with his session-best lap to reclaim the top spot.

Fernandez secured second ahead of Di Giannantonio, while Alex Marquez claimed fourth. Miller’s strong fifth-place finish sent both himself and Yamaha directly into Q2, ahead of Dutch GP winner Ai Ogura (SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team). Bezzecchi, Jorge Martin (Aprilia Racing), Acosta and Morbidelli completed the top 10.

Miller put in an impressive performance to be by far the best Yamaha rider in fifth.

A late crash for Bastianini left him outside the automatic Q2 places, while Bagnaia also missed the cut after failing to improve. Quartararo, Marini and Mir will also contest Q1, with just over a second separating 11th through 21st, setting up a fiercely competitive fight for the final two Q2 spots.

Moto2

Izan Guevara (BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2) wasted little time establishing a new Moto2 Sachsenring lap record, the Spaniard’s 1:22.260 putting him on top at the end of Friday’s running in Germany. Fellow Spaniard Ivan Ortola (QJMOTOR – R.O.M.E.A – MSI) finished just 0.036 seconds adrift in second, while Dutch GP winner David Alonso (CFMOTO Azul Marino Aspar Team) rounded out the top three.

The Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP pairing enjoyed a productive home Friday at the Liqui Moly Grand Prix of Germany, with Senna Agius edging teammate and World Championship leader Manuel Gonzalez into fifth by just 0.005 seconds. Both comfortably secured direct passage to Q2, although each will be aiming to close the three-tenth gap to the front before qualifying.

Returning rider Mario Aji (IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia) impressed by earning a place in Q2 in 13th, one position behind MotoGP-bound Daniel Holgado (CFMOTO Azul Marino Aspar Team). However, one notable casualty was Celestino Vietti (MB Conveyors SpeedRS Team), with the Italian finishing only 18th in Practice, 0.897 seconds off Guevara’s benchmark.

Friday Moto3

Indonesian rookie Veda Pratama (Honda Team Asia) topped Moto3 Friday Practice at the Sachsenring for the 2026 German GP, leading a remarkably close field with 21 riders separated by less than a second. The biggest story, however, was Championship leader Maximo Quiles (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team), who crashed at Turn 7 without setting a lap and was relegated to Q1.

Veda Pratama hit the front of the Moto3 field in Germany.

Quiles’ highside at Turn 7 ended his session immediately, with his damaged bike unable to be repaired in time. Guido Pini (Leopard Racing) and Adrian Cruces (CIP GreenPower) also crashed in the same incident, leaving both riders unable to return and facing the challenge of Q1.

At the front, Pratama bounced back from a disappointing Assen weekend to set the fastest time, ahead of Joel Esteban (LEVELUP-MTA) and Britain’s Eddie O’Shea (GRYD Racing), who claimed third for the second straight Grand Prix. Jesus Rios (Rivacold Snipers Team) was fourth, just 0.056 seconds from the top, while Alvaro Carpe (Red Bull KTM Ajo) completed the top five.

Further back, Casey O’Gorman (SIC58 Squadra Corse) was pushed out of the automatic Q2 places by Rico Salmela’s (Red Bull KTM Tech3) final lap, while Adrian Fernandez (Leopard Racing) and Valentin Perrone (Red Bull KTM Tech3) also missed the cut. David Almansa (LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP), absent on Friday through illness, will also have to contest Q1 if he returns on Saturday.
