WorldSBK Race Two

Being completely honest, beyond the opening lap dramas that put two riders out of contention, the most compelling aspect of the final Motorland race was not happening on track but in the stats computers.

It is all because of inevitable Race Two winner, Nicolo Bulega (Aruba. It Racing – Ducati).

He has won all 18 WorldSBK races this year, and now 22 in succession when you count his four season-ending wins from 2025. He was already the record holder in these regards, but Motorland took him into seemingly impossible territory.

He has now taken 38 career race wins, and is only five shy of Noriyuki Haga’s 43.

Nicolo Bulega is putting together the most dominant season in WorldSBK history after yet another sweep in Spain.

As even more towers of records were build up by the victorious Bulega, his own team-mate Iker Lecuona (Aruba. It Racing – Ducati) has now taken 15 second places in succession after his runner-up spot in Race Two.

Third was, as predicted by the previous results, was Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team Ducati) some six seconds behind the race win.

Fourth, after another strong ride, was Alex Lowes (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team), who was just under two seconds ahead of his team-mate Axel Bassani (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team).

A remarkable ride from Garrett Gerloff (Kawasaki WorldSBK Team) saw him move up to sixth place from a 12th place starting position.

Four riders crossed the finish line in a loose group behind Gerloff, with Alvaro Bautista (Barni Spark Racing Team) seventh, Alberto Surra (Motocorsa Racing Ducati) eighth, Tommy Bridewell (Superbike Advocates Ducati) ninth and ‘super-sub’ Michael van Der Mark(ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) tenth.

Remy Gardner (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) was top Yamaha finisher, in 12th position. Jake Dixon (HRC Honda) was ruled out of competition due to his previous injuries causing him too much pain and muscle fatigue.

In the championship itself, at the end the first half of the 2026 season, Bulega is now 108 points ahead of Lecuona – 372-264. Sam Lowes is third with 142 and Alex Lowes fourth with 131.

WorldSBK Superpole Race

For a while championship leader Nicolo Bulega (Aruba. It Racing – Ducati) looked like he might be in a bit of trouble in the ten-lap sprint, but after he ws relegated to fourth place he eventually got back into the lead. He would win again – its seems obligatory in 2026 – after some real efforts and short-time passes into the lead by eventual second placed rider, Iker Lecuona (Aruba. It Racing – Ducati).

2026 Spanish WorldSBK Results2026 Spanish WorldSBK Results: All aboard the Nicolo Bulega train in WorldSBK.
Bulega didn’t quite have it all his own way but still notched another win in the Superpole race.

Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team Ducati) and Lecuona had some real scraps while out front, with one in particular so tough that Lowes immediately apologised for it.

Lowes would finish third. Lorenzo Baldassarri (Team GoEleven Ducati) could have been in that position with his late pace but he was to fall and no score, leaving Lowes to a podium and ended the prospect fo a fight with fourth place finisher, Alberto Surra (Motocorsa Racing Ducati).

He led a loose group fo six riders across the line, with Alex Lowes (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team) fifth and Axel Bassani (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team) sixth. Tommy Bridewell (Superbike Advocates Ducati) was again impressive in seventh place, especially as he finished ahead of the two long established Barni Spark Ducatis, ridden by Alvaro Bautista and Yari Montella. The latter was less than five seconds from the winner, Bulega.

Tenth and top R1 rider was Xavi Vierge (Pata Maxus Yamaha); 11th and top M1000RR rider was Michael van Der Mark. Garrett Gerloff (Kawasaki WorldSBK Team) was one place behind in 13th position, 7.371 seconds from the race-winning time.

Bulega, of course also set a new lap record of 1’47.709, but just to prove how dominant he is in 2026, he set it on the tenth and final lap, to take an advantage of 0.5 seconds over Lecuona at the flag. He has now won 21 consecutive WorldSBK races, and all 17 this year.

WorldSPB Race Two

Late race falls as much as riding skill and evenly-matched pace determined the final WorldSPB Sunday race result at Aragon.

After a seriously close and breathtaking contest, the rider who crossed the line first, Elia Bartolini (CM Triumph Factory Racing), was relegated to sixth for knocking off David Salvador (ProDina Kawasaki) on the final lap.

Artigas held on for an ultra-close win in the second WorldSPB race.

This made the new ‘race winner’ Antonio Torres (ProDina Kawasaki) – but as he had taken out top Aprilia runner Matteo Vannucci (Revo-M2 Aprilia) in the infamous final chicane, Torres was relegated to seventh in the official results.

That made the real, bona-fide winner Xavi Artigas (MTM Kawasaki), for the first time in this class.

Carter Thompson (Team BrCorse Yamaha) took his and Yamaha’s first podium of the season in second place, as did third placed rider, Harrison Dessoy (PHR Performance Triumph).

Dessoy’s team-mate Fenton Seabright (PHR Performance Triumph) was fourth, while a season-best of fifth place for Alvaro Fuertes (Deza-Box 77 Racing Team) came on home asphalt.

With the aforementioned penalised riders Bartolini and Torres in sixth and seventh places, the top Suzuki rider was Ferre Fleerackers (Track & Trades Wixx Racing Suzuki), in eighth place. Two Kawasaki riders, Jose Osuna (Deza-Box 77 Racing Team) and American rider Julian Correa (Pons Motorsport Italika Racing) rounded out the top ten.

All the last lap shenanigans had an effect in the championship table, as Salvador now leads by 13 points from Torres – 126-113. Artigas is third with 109, unlucky early faller Jeffrey Buis (Track & Trades Wixx Racing Suzuki) and Vannucci share 90 points apiece.

WorldSSP Race Two

Jaume Masia (Orelac Racing Verdnatura) ended up on the top of the Race Two rankings after a patient game of chasing the early leaders and then pushing hard near the end.

He held off the early top rider Albert Arenas (AS Racing Yamaha) to narrow Arenas’ championship lead somewhat. Arenas had to work hard on the final corner exit to stay ahead of the flying Matteo Ferrari (WRP Racing Ducati) and the closely following Roberto Garcia (GMT94-YAMAHA).

Another cracker of a WorldSSP race saw Jaume Masia come out on top.

Early force Aldi Satya Mahendra (AS Racing Yamaha) was fifth, and the last rider in a leading group covered by just 0.665 seconds.

Philipp Öttl GER (Feel Racing WorldSSP Team Ducati) placed sixth, just holding off Tom Booth-Amos (Triumph Factory Racing). The English rider was in a podium place until he ran wide and lost several places.

Valentin Debise (ZXMOTO Factory Evan Bros Racing) was eighth, riding on his own finally, while Oli Bayliss (Triumph Factory Racing) led home a group of five riders, with Bayliss ninth, and Jeremy Alcoba (Kawasaki WorldSSP Team) in tenth place. The Kawasaki rider had started from 22nd place on the grid.

In the championship points, Arenas has 206 and Masia 166 – a difference of 40. Debise has 163.

WorldSBP Race One

After a crash left Taiyo Aksu (PATA AG Motorsport Yamaha) and his bike in the middle of the track a red flagged first attempt at running Race One was restarted over five laps. Aksu escaped with a right ankle contusion and a suspected sprain, as the ‘real’ race got underway without him.

Pole man David Salvador (ProDina Kawasaki) was the early leader, and eventual winner, but in such a short race compared to the scheduled 11-lapper, the leading group actually closed-up at the end.

Salvador got the win, but only just.

Salvador won by just 0.046 seconds from Xavi Artigas (MTM Kawasaki). An audacious attempted outside pass to win from Fenton Seabright (PHR Performance Triumph) did not quite succeed, but he took a first podium in this class for his amazing late effort.

Antonio Torres (ProDina Kawasaki) placed fourth, and early leader Matteo Vannucci (Revo-M2 Aprilia) was fifth.

Aussie rider Carter Thompson (Team BrCorse Yamaha) was top Yamaha rider in sixth position, and just 0.254 seconds from the winner.

Loris Veneman (MTM Kawasaki) led the second group (only 0.8 seconds back) across the line in seventh, with Seabright’s team-mate Harrison Dessoy (PHR Performance Triumph) eighth.

The top ten was rounded out by Alessandro Di Persio (ARCO Yamaha MotoR University Team) and Jeffrey Buis (Track & Trades Wixx Racing Suzuki) the top GSX-8R rider on track.

Salvador’s win made it six different race winners, on three makes of machine, across the first seven races of WorldSPB’s entire existence.

One more race to go at Motorland, but on Sunday it will be the first race of the day, not the last as it was on day one.

WorldSBK Race One

Nicolo Bulega (Aruba. It Racing – Ducati) had his team-mate Iker Lecuona (Aruba. It Racing – Ducati) as a distant shadow in the first 18-lap WorldSBK race at Motorland, but the clear championship leader had it all under control right to the flag. He would win by 1.274 seconds.

Bulega’s 36th career WorldSBK race win was also his 20th in succession, extending his own run of consecutive wins into simply unbelievable territory.

2026 Spanish WorldSBK Results2026 Spanish WorldSBK Results: All aboard the Nicolo Bulega train in WorldSBK.
Bulega eased clear to notch an incredible 20th consecutive win.

Third in Race One was Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team Ducati), for a full Ducati podium spread.

Fourth place went to Alex Lowes (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team) who was 16 seconds behind the win.

Tommy Bridewell (Superbike Advocates Ducati) seriously impressed with a fifth place finish, holding off the late push of Lorenzo Baldassarri (Team GoEleven Ducati) over the finish line for his best WorldSBK result ever. His previous best was eighth at the last round in Most.

Seventh place went to Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team), eighth to Axel Bassani (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team) and ninth to Garrett Gerloff (Kawasaki WorldSBK Team).

Tarran Mackenzie (MGM Optical Express Racing) took the last place inside the top ten.

Michael van Der Mark (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) was 11th, for top BMW slot, while the best Yamaha rider was Stefano Manzi, in 12th place.

WorldSSP Race One

Alessandro Zaccone (Ecosantagata Althea Racing Team), the reigning MotoE champion, went from the second row of the Race One grid in Aragon to the status of race winner – for the first time in his 27 race-long WorldSSP career.

The Ducati rider – representing the recently deceased WorldSBK team owner Genesio Bevilacqua’s Althea squad – had a great last lap fight with long time race leader Albert Arenas (AS Racing Yamaha).

Alessandro Zaccone held of Albert Arenas to record a first ever WorldSSP win.

Zaccone finally won with a last corner entry passing move after 15 hectic laps.

Tom Booth-Amos (Triumph Factory Racing) had one of his better races, going from an early fifth to third place. He had to pass the determined nineteen-year-old Roberto Garcia (GMT94-YAMAHA) to take another podium, his second of 2026.

In fifth place, Jaume Masia (Orelac Racing Verdnatura) had a strong ride, but had to work hard to keep the improving Indonesian rider Aldi Satya Mahendra (AS Racing Yamaha) behind him across the finish line.

Matteo Ferrari (WRP Racing Ducati) was seventh, one-time podium probable Valentin Debise (ZXMOTO Factory Evan Bros Racing) eighth, Simon Jespersen (EAB Racing Team) was ninth and Philipp Öttl GER (Feel Racing WorldSSP Team Ducati) rounded out the top ten.

Oli Bayliss (Triumph Factory Racing) crashed out and no-scored.

In the championship points, with one more race to go at Motorland before we reach the halfway point in the overall calendar, Arenas has 186, Debise 155 and Masia 141.

WorldSBK Superpole

Nicolo Bulega (Aruba. It Racing – Ducati) beat his own WorldSBK track best of 1’47.332 with a new record of 1’46.836 to take his six pole of the season, and the 14th of his career.

To the surprise of almost no-one, Iker Lecuona (Aruba. It Racing – Ducati) was second fastest. Even though his personal best Qualifying time beat the previous track best, Iker was fully 0.476 seconds behind his rampant team-mate today.

Pole position and a new lap record for the steamroller Bulega.

To the surprise of many, Alberto Surra (Motocorsa Racing Ducati) secured third place in Superpole Qualifying, but will start the race from the very back of the grid after an infraction of the yellow flag rules.

‘Normal’ third place finisher in many sessions this year, Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team Ducati), was fourth this time around, with his brother Alex Lowes (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team) inside the top five. Alex was the first non-Ducati rider on the grid.

Lorenzo Baldassarri (Team GoEleven Ducati) carried on the desmo howl into sixth position, but a pleasant surprise for BMW – despite missing both top name regular riders through injury – was that recent factory runner and full-time tester Michael van Der Mark (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) was eighth fastest, and just less than a second from Bulega.

Tommy Bridewell (Superbike Advocates Ducati) left it late but qualified a strong eighth, with Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team) ninth and Axel Bassani (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team) tenth.

Fastest Yamaha rider was Andrea Locatelli (Pata Maxus Yamaha), in 11th position.

Garrett Gerloff (Kawasaki WorldSBK Team) was 12th, the still-recovering Jake Dixon (Honda HRC) a remarkable 14th from 22 entries.

Friday WorldSBK

With track temperatures into the +50°C range and air temperatures over 35°C, the first day at Motorland Aragon proved to be a too hot for new records, and tricky enough for even some top names to fall in FP2.

The less hot conditions in the morning allowed most of the riders to set their best first day times early on, and thus the fastest rider in the combined times was Nicolo Bulega (Aruba. It Racing – Ducati), although he was third in FP2 in the afternoon.

Bulega topped Friday but only just as the gap between him and the pack gets ever smaller.

Second overall was FP2’s fastest rider, Iker Lecuona (Aruba. It Racing – Ducati). He would crash, without injury, late in FP2.

A bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team duo of Alex Lowes and Axel Bassani took third and fourth best times over the day, with the other Lowes – the Sam version – fifth on his ELF Marc VDS Racing Team Ducati.

All the places from fifth to 11th were filled by Ducati riders, with Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team) sixth, Lorenzo Baldassarri (Team GoEleven Ducati) seventh, Tarran Mackenzie (MGM Optical Express Racing) eighth, Tommy Bridewell (Superbike Advocates Ducati) ninth and Alberto Surra (Motocorsa Racing Ducati) completing the top ten.

In his first race weekend of the year, Jake Dixon (Honda HRC) was 17th overall, despite a fall in FP1.

Only 1.793 seconds covered the top 20 riders on Friday.

Friday WorldSSP

A very late attack from home-town hopeful Albert Arenas (AS Racing Yamaha) saw him displace Valentin Debise (ZXMOTO Factory Evan Bros Racing) from his position at the top of Superpole qualifying session.

In the always close WorldSSP class, both the top riders had an eventually strong 0.3+ second lead over the next placed hopeful.

Arenas topped WorldSSP in an even smaller gap than what it was in WorldSBK.

Long time leader in the timesheets, Roberto Garcia (GMT94-YAMAHA) ended his day third, and with a front row starting place for Race One.

In very hot conditions, with an official air temperature of 34°C, the Superpole session was laden with crashes and incident.

Can Öncü (Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing) fell bef ore he even set a lap time, and had to fight his way back to fourth overall.

Tom Booth-Amos (Triumph Factory Racing) was another T1 crasher, but he clawed his way back to fifth on the grid.

Alessandro Zaccone (Ecosantagata Althea Racing Team) was sixth fastest, with championship challenger, Jaume Masia (Orelac Racing Verdnatura) seventh.

Former WorldSSP300 champion and ever-improving WorldSSP rider, Aldi Satya Mahendra (AS Racing Yamaha) was eighth, Matteo Ferrari (WRP Racing Ducati) ninth and Oli Bayliss (Triumph Factory Racing) rounded out the top ten.

Thirty four riders in all qualified for the races, with 33 of them within 2.758 seconds of the leading time at this 5.077km long circuit.

David Salvador (ProDina Kawasaki) put in his second Superpole ride in succession at Motorland, having also been on pole at the previous round in Czechia.

He was 0.523 seconds up on Matteo Vannucci (Revo-M2 Aprilia) in scorching conditions, with 35°C ambient air temperatures recorded during the session.

David Salvador was half a second clear in World Sportbike.

Only those two leading riders – Salvador and Vannucci – got under the two minute mark with their best lap times at the inaugural Aragon WorldSPB round.

Bruno Ieraci (CM Triumph Factory Racing) was third quickest, and just a whisper ahead of another Triumph rider, albeit from another team, Fenton Seabright (PHR Performance Triumph).

Jeffrey Buis (Track & Trades Wixx Racing Suzuki) was top Suzuki rider, in fifth, and Carter Thompson (Team BrCorse Yamaha) was the best R9 rider, in sixth position.

Loris Veneman (MTM Kawasaki) ended Superpole in seventh place, with Elia Bartolini (CM Triumph Factory Racing) eighth.

Xavi Artigas (MTM Kawasaki) and Alvaro Fuertes (Deza-Box 77 Racing Team) completed the top ten, in readiness for Race One on Saturday 30 May.
