The 2022-23 General Tire Arenacross Outlaws Series (formerly Hoosier Arenacross) kicked off over the November 4-5 weekend with a doubleheader in Topeka, Kansas. Both nights of racing featured two main events for the 250cc and 450cc Pro classes, seeing three unique winners take to the podium.
Round one took place Saturday night inside the Stormont Vail Events Center. Honda-mounted Lance Kobusch struck first with the opening win in the 450 Pro class and backed it up with a consistent second in main event number two. He finished second overall.
The current number-one of Michael Hicks started off the podium, fifth in race one, but finished the night with a win and the overall. Cheyenne Harmon’s 2-3 finishes secured third for the opening round.
Kobusch again put himself up front in the 250 Pro division with dominant 1-1 finishes for that overall win. He bested Harmon and Hicks in the 250s as the three riders flip-flopped positions.
Night two saw Grant Harlan get to the top step of the box in the 450 Pro class. The Texas native earned the overall win with consistent 3-1 finishes. Round-one winner Michael Hicks grabbed the opening-moto win on night two, but a second in race two put him second overall. Mike Alessi’s 2-3 scores gave him third overall for the second round. Hicks leads the points in the 450 Pro division.
Harlan again came out swinging in the 250 Pro class for night two. The Honda rider grabbed good starts in both races and took the overall win, making him a double-class winner for round two of the series. Hicks and Harmon earned second and third respectively.
Harmon leads the 250 Pro class points by just one point over Kobusch. CN
