WorldSSP Race Two
Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) won his second race of the day at Estoril as long-time race leader Scott Redding (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) crashed out shortly after Rea passed him, on lap 15. Rea’s latest win was 2.787 up from the upwardly mobile Chaz Davies (Team GoEleven Ducati). Rea used an SC0 rear tire again, when most others used an SCX option.
Redding got going again after his turn four fall to take two points for 14th.
An incident-laden second WorldSBK race at Estoril saw Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha by Brixx WorldSBK Team) jump start and then take two long lap penalties – and still get on the podium for an impressive third place finish.
Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team) placed fourth, Andrea Locatelli (Pata Yamaha by Brixx WorldSBK Team) a career-best fifth.
Michael van der Mark (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) was sixth, just ahead of the leading Fireblade of Alvaro Bautista (HRC Honda).
Tom Sykes (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) placed eighth, strong starter Eugene Laverty (RC Squadra Corse BMW) ninth and Tito Rabat (Barni Racing Ducati) tenth.
Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) was taken out by a lap two crash under braking from Garrett Gerloff (GRT Yamaha).
In the championship points Rea has 110 and Razgatlioglu is now second on 75. Redding has 74 points in third place and Lowes is fourth with 62.

WorldSSP Race Two
A fabulous 18-lap WorldSSP Race Two was finally taken by Dominique Aegerter (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha) after falls and technical retirements from the top riders finished off a race laden with drama from first to last.
In the final laps triple race winner in the early races, Steven Odendaal (BARDAHL Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha), slowed and then retired from race-winning contention altogether.
Another leading rider, Raffaele De Rosa (Orelac Racing VerdNatura Kawasaki) fell from a potential win with just three laps to go, opening up opportunities for an ever-changing leading group.
Finally, 2020 Italian champion Luca Bernardi (CM Yamaha Racing) scored second after coming through the field of leading riders, relegating long time leader Philipp Öttl (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) to third place, for the Kawasaki riders’ second podium of the weekend.
Jules Cluzel (GMT94 Yamaha) was another top rider to fall near the end, but Manuel Gonzalez (Yamaha ParkinGo Team) was a strong fourth, just over a second from the win.
Hannes Soomer (Kallio Racing Yamaha) ended up fifth, winning a late fight with potential podium contender Federico Caricasulo (GMT94 Yamaha).
Can Öncü (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) had a strong ride to seventh, five seconds from the top but more than five seconds from the eighth placed rider, Niki Tuuli (MV Agusta Corse Clienti). The top ten was finished off by Randy Krummenacher (EAB Racing Team) and Marc Alcoba (Yamaha MS Racing).
Aegerters’ win was all the more poignant after news came through of the sad passing of his Swiss countryman Jason Dupasquier after a Moto3 crash at Mugello.

WorldSBK Superpole Race
Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) chose a standard rear tire, not the special SCX designed for ten lap races, to win the ten lap Tissot Superpole Race at Estoril, with all except his team-mate Alex Lowes running what was the ‘obvious’ choice SCX rear. Lowes was finally sixth, from tenth on the grid.
Scott Redding (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) and Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha by Brixx WorldSBK Team) each led the race, but after Rea had settled he took advantage of any slip up and eased out to win for the first time at Estoril. This is the 20th track in WorldSBK that Rea has won a race at.
Razgatlioglu, outbraked by Rea for a change, was second by 0.690 seconds, with Redding third after overcoming the strong challenge of fourth placed finisher Garrett Gerloff (GRT Yamaha).
Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) held off the late challenge of Lowes for fifth place, with the top six covered by just 3.623 seconds.
Tom Sykes (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) held off the challenge of BMW satellite team rider Eugene Laverty (RC Squadra Corse BMW).
Chaz Davies (Team GoEleven Ducati) came from 15th to ninth (and a third row start for the Race Two finale), while Alvaro Bautista (HRC Honda) was just inside the top 10.

WorldSSP Race One
Steven Odendaal (BARDAHL Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha) took his seemingly unbeatable R6 to the win in WorldSSP Race one at Estoril, with a close but also clear 0.350 seconds margin over second place rider, Philipp Öttl (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing).
The top four in the 18-lap race were covered by just 0.765 seconds, with Jules Cluzel (GMT94 Yamaha) just getting the best of the championship’s second place rider at present, Dominique Aegerter (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha) for third and the final podium place.
Young Gun Manuel Gonzalez (Yamaha ParkinGo Team) was fifth, and just 1.023 seconds from the winner.
Just over 4.5 seconds from Odendaal latest win was Raffaele De Rosa (Orelac Racing VerdNatura Kawasaki), and a further three seconds behind him was Luca Bernardi (CM Racing Yamaha).
Hannes Soomer (Kallio Racing Yamaha), one-time World Champion Randy Krummenacher (EAB Racing Team) and Christoffer Bergman (Wojcik Racing Team Yamaha) rounded out the top ten.

WorldSBK Race One
Start to finish leading pace from second place qualifier Scott Redding (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) saw him win the opening WorldSBK race of the Estoril weekend in assured fashion – and with an SCX tire on the rear of his machine.
Under constant attention from eventual second-place rider Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha by Brixx WorldSBK Team) the main action up front was behind Redding, in the final battle between the Turkish rider and third-place finisher Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team).
Unable to pass the hard-braking Razgatlioglu after working his way up from fourth in the early laps, Rea had to take third on a day when it was his advantage for Superpole but Redding’s for the big points score. The top three were all covered by less than a second at the flag – on three different machines.
Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) was a tough competitor for Rea for a time until he dropped back to finish fourth, while another potential top-five rider, Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team), crashed out while moving up from his (penalized) tenth place starting position. He restarted but finished 19th.
Chaz Davies (Team GoEleven Ducati) was sixth, but 17 seconds back from Redding, with Michael van der Mark (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) two more seconds back in seventh place.
Alvaro Bautista (HRC Honda) placed eighth and Tito Rabat (Barni Racing Ducati). Andrea Locatelli (Pata Yamaha by Brixx WorldSBK Team) completed the top ten places in race one.

WorldSBK Superpole
Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) scored his second Superpole win of the season to qualify in the best possible starting place for today’s WorldSBK Race One. His 1’35.876 was a new track best, and the only time under the 1’36 mark. This was his 29th career Superpole win.
Scott Redding (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) is got to within 0.171 seconds of Rea, while Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team) will join the top two on the front row after setting third-best time.
2020 Estoril master Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha by Brixx WorldSBK Team) was fourth, a good qualifying performance on a soft rear tire. Garrett Gerloff (GRT Yamaha) ran in fifth, with the all-time Superpole record holder Tom Sykes (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) sixth.
Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) heads up the third row in seventh place, Eugene Laverty (RC Squadra Corse BMW) was eighth and privateer Lucas Mahias (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) was ninth after lapping behind Rea on a race tyre in the middle of the session.
Tito Rabat (Barni Racing Ducati) was tenth but also ran off track at one stage.
Alvaro Bautista (HRC Honda) was top Honda qualifier in 12th, one place behind fast rookie Andrea Locatelli (Pata Yamaha by Brixx WorldSBK Team).
