In this week’s Throwback we wind back the clock to 2004. That doesn’t sound like that was all that long ago, but kids born that year are now in high school! This week’s photo takes us back to the AMA 250 Motocross National at Washougal, Washington. Washougal is perhaps the most scenic of all motocross tracks in America and you can see the rich, dark loam from years of evergreen needles mixing in the soil. In the photo we see a major portion of the 40-rider field blasting through the first turn at the start of the second moto. Joe Oehlhof appears to have gotten the holeshot on his No. 57 Subway Honda CRF450R just ahead of Rusty Holland (244). Also running near the front are Joaquim Rodrigues (108), Chad Reed (22), Kevin Windham (14), Dennis Stapleton (184) and Jeff Gibson (87). Charging up from the outside is Ricky Carmichael (4) who would go on to win the race with a 1-1 over Reed (2-2) and Windham (3-3).
