2018 Las Vegas 450cc Supercross Results: After losing out on a very real shot at clinching the 2018 Monster Energy/AMA Supercross Championship a round early last week in Salt Lake City, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Jason Anderson was still sitting pretty. All he needed was to finish inside the top 10, and then if Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin won, Anderson would still clinch the title.

To Musquin’s chagrin, it was Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac who grabbed the early lead, but Musquin put up one heck of a fight for more than half of the race until getting balked by a lapper and losing touch with Tomac. Once that happened, Tomac was far enough ahead to not have to protect his lines, and that was it. Tomac took his eighth win of the year, which matches the number of races won by Musquin and Anderson combined.

Anderson had a so-so start in the main event, but moved into fifth in the first couple laps and just hung there for the rest of the race, comfortable, and not pushing too hard. Tomac led Musquin at the finish, with Rocky Mountain ATV/MC KTM’s Blake Baggett a distant third. Fourth went to Honda’s Christian Craig, just in front of Anderson.

Baggett came into the finale tied for fourth in points with Motoconcepts/SmarTop Honda’s Justin Brayton, but Brayton had an off night in Vegas, and Baggett took home fourth in the championship chase, behind Tomac (third), Musquin (second) and Anderson (first).
