Larry Lawrence | March 15, 2018
In this week’s Throwback Thursday, we go back to 1984 and Daytona Beach, Florida. This shot shows a talented trio of riders battling in the ’84 Daytona 200 with Brit Ron Haslam (316) leading American Mike Baldwin (43) and New Zealander Graeme Crosby (305). Haslam and Baldwin were riding 1983 Honda’s NS500, a three-cylinder 500cc Grand Prix machine. Crosby was on a Yoshimura Suzuki AMA F1 machine using power from a Suzuki GS1000-based engine.
Haslam topped this group, finishing third. Crosby finished seventh on the big four-stroke Suzuki and Baldwin took 11th. Haslam would go on and score two podiums in that season in the 500cc Motorcycle Grand Prix World Championship.
The 77th Daytona 200 American SportBike Racing Association (ASRA) race runs this Saturday, March 17 at Daytona International Speedway. You can watch the race live on www.FansChoice.tv
