Indian Release: Indian Motorcycle Racing and legendary road racer Larry Pegram today announced that Pegram will compete at the Lone Star National Half-Mile in Dallas on Saturday, September 23. Larry Pegram will run Brad Baker’s backup Indian Scout FTR750 and wear Indian Motorcycle Racing leathers.
“It’s been one of the most historic seasons of flat track racing,” said Pegram. “I got a good sense of the Scout FTR750’s capabilities during the X-Games in Minneapolis, and I’m excited to get back on it for the half-mile track at Texas Motor Speedway.”
After more than 60 years away from professional flat track racing, Indian Motorcycle, backed by Allstate Insurance, secured the 2017 American Flat Track Manufacturer’s Championship. Additionally, Wrecking Crew rider Jared Mees secured his fourth career national championship after a first-place finish at the Williams Grove Half-Mile on September 9.
Aboard the Scout FTR750, the Indian Wrecking Crew has combined for 35 of the season’s 48 total podiums, including six sweeps. Mees has nine victories on the season with a total of 342 points. Fellow Wrecking Crew Riders, Bryan Smith (275 points) and Brad Baker (247 points) rank second and third place in the season’s standing.
Additionally, joining Pegram and the Wrecking Crew on the Scout FTR750 is Johnny Lewis, who will make history as the first privateer to race an Indian Motorcycle Scout FTR750 in American Flat Track. The deal was set up by legendary tuner David Atherton to ride the off-the-showroom-floor FTR 750 bought by John Wise from Elkhart Indian in Elkhart, Indiana.
