Throwback Thursday: Jimmy Filice Leads the Phoenix AMA 250GP Pack (1993)

Jimmy Filice (No. 65) leads a group of AMA 250 Grand Prix riders into the first turn at the opening round of the 1993 series at Phoenix International Raceway. Filice, racing the Otsuka Electronic/Wayne Rainey Racing Yamaha, went on to win the race that day over Danny Walker and Chris D’Aluisio. It was the start of a dominating season for Filice. He went on to win nine of the ten AMA 250GP rounds that season, en route to earning the championship. Following Filice in this shot are Chris D’Aluisio (No. 2), Nick Ienatsch (No. 64), Doug Carmichael (No. 9) Bruce Baldus (No. 46), Takahiro Mori (No. 42) and Danny Walker tucked in behind Ienatsch.
