Great Britain’s Max Anstie and Frenchman Romain Febvre were both double moto winners at the MXGP of Lombardia in Mantova, Italy, August 23. Kawasaki’s Anstie worked to the front of both motos and ran off with the overall victory in the MX2 class. It was his third GP win of the year.

As for Febvre, the Yamaha rider dominated both MXGP motos and now enjoys a near insurmountable 101-point lead over Gautier Paulin with just three GPs left. He could clinch the MXGP at the next GP.

“It was a really good weekend and started from Saturday when I saw that I had the speed,” Febvre said. “My starts were not great today, but I managed to pass and lead both motos. I’m really happy to be back on top of the box. We are getting close now to the end [of the season] and the title can be won next weekend. We will see. I think next weekend will be even sandier and it will be easy to make a mistake. We need to stay on two wheels and keep pushing.”

Things are a lot tighter in the MX2 class, however, as Pauls Jonass, third in Mantova, leads Honda rider Tim Gajser by just four points.
