MONTEREY, CA, JULY 19—Aruba.it Racing Ducati’s Chaz Davies secured his second race win of the season after 25-intense laps at the 2.238-mile Laguna Seca circuit in Monterey, California.

The holeshot rider from pole, Davies ran out front, setting the best lap of the race on lap five as he made an escape. His plans were partially helped by a fight between the official Kawasaki Racing Team riders—Jonathan Rea and Tom Sykes—who were just behind, a battle that slowed the forward progress of Rea.

In the end Sykes managed to hold onto second place ahead of Rea.

Davies’ teammate Davide Giugliano secured fourth place after escaping the best efforts of Spaniard Jordi Torres on the Aprilia Racing Team Red Devils machine.

Voltcom Crescent Suzuki’s Alex Lowes scored double-digit points for sixth, Sylvain Guintoli on the Pata Honda placed seventh ahead of teammate Michael van der Mark.

Barni Racing Team Ducati’s Leandro Mercado was ninth and MV Agusta Reparto Corse’s Leon Camier completed the top 10.

After crashing mid-race, Torres’ teammate Leon Haslam finished 13th.
