Swiss rider Valentin Guillod (pictured) outdueled Jeffery Herlings to win the MX2 class at the GP of Great Britain. It was his second victory in a row.
MATTERLEY BASIN (Great Britain), 24 May 2015 – Predictions for the FIM Motocross World Championship are not getting any easier, with the down-to-the wire results at MXGP of Great Britain, round seven of the FIM Motocross World Championship, being solid evidence. The typically rutty and spongy track of Matterley Basin shaped up a lot harder, faster and slicker than it had in years prior which was taken in the strides of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Antonio Cairoli and Standing Construct Yamaha Yamalube’s Valentin Guillod, who both nailed their second consecutive grand prix victories of this season.
Cairoli went 1-3 to win the MXGP class, while the Swiss, Guillod, outdueled Red Bull KTM’s Jeffrey Herlings in the second moto to secure the overall win in MX2 via 2-1 results; Herlings went 1-2.
American Thomas Covington went 7-10 for ninth overall.
Mike Alessi competed in the MXGP class but struggled to find the pace to keep up with the top riders. In his first race since suffering injuries at the Daytona Supercross, Alessi ended up going 22-17 on the day.
