Cole Seeley looking for more podiums in 2015

One of the standout performers in this year’s Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship has been Cole Seely. Heading into this weekend’s round 14 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Seeley is just six points off Team Honda HRC teammate Trey Canard in fourth place and is eyeing a championship podium in his first full year of 450cc competition. A week off has been good for Seely as he looks for his breakthrough win in the premier category in a season that’s so far netted him two second places, one third and three fourths as his standout results.

“I just tried to relax and take advantage of it being an off weekend without travel,” said the 25-year-old. “Recovery time is always awesome. As crazy as it sounds after going back-to-back for three months, I wish there were more races. I love racing Supercross.”

Seely’s season has been a building experience since the disappointment of the first two races at Anaheim 1 and Phoenix that saw him finish a lowly 14th in both finals. Round five he credits as his best so far with his debut podium in the championship at his hometown of Anaheim III, saying that, “The whole season has been such a good learning experience for me. I know I’ll only be stronger next year starting at from the first gate drop.”

Seely knows that once the Supercross season is over he’ll be expected to step up come the Outdoor Nationals, but the man from Laguna Beach is up for the challenge.

“Yeah, we’ve been testing quite a bit and it has been awesome. The bike is feeling great. I’m excited to race the outdoors on the 450. I think it suits me well!”
