Supercross: Trey Canard Tops Daytona Qualifying

Daytona Beach, Florida (March 7, 2015) – If qualifying times are any indication, then Trey Canard, Chad Reed and Eli Tomac will be the riders to beat at tonight’s Daytona Supercross by Honda in Daytona International Speedway.

Canard topped the time charts on his Team Honda HRC with a time of 1:04.036, beating out Reed on his TwoTwo Motorsports Kawasaki by nearly .8 of the second after Reed posted a 1:04.812. Tomac, in the meantime, logged a 1:05.458 on his GEICO-backed Honda.

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Jason Husqvarna looked particularly good in qualifying and finished with the fourth-fastest time, a 1:05.548, while Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey rounded out the top five with a 1:05.614.

In the 250 class, Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha’s Jeremy Martin topped the time charts with a 1:04.446, with points leader Marvin Musquin second on his Red Bull KTM with a time of 1:05.242. Third-fastest was Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Joey Savatgy with a 1:06.092.

GEICO Honda’s Justin Bogle (1:06.610), and Kawasaki mounted Nick Gaines (1:06.642) rounded out the top five. 

The weather has been cold all day with a slight threat of rain. The opening ceremonies get underway at 7:00 EST.
