Practice has just concluded in Detroit’s Ford Field for tonight’s 12th round of the 2015 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series, and GEICO Honda’s Eli Tomac came out on top of the 450 time sheets with a fastest time of 52.552, just fractions of a second faster than N-Fab/JGR/Toyota/Yamaha’s Weston Peick at 52.602. Peick has been racing with a few injuries the past couple of weeks, but seems to be unhindered today. Tomac has been hot and cold, but looked exceptionally fast on the Detroit course.

Behind Peick was series point leader Ryan Dungey on his Red Bull KTM, who came in with a fastest time of 52.727, while Team Honda HRC’s Trey Canard was not far behind at 52.793.

Discount Tires/TwoTwo Motorsports Kawasaki’s Chad Reed rounded out the top five with a 52.807.

The second half of the top 10 looked like Canard’s Honda teammate Cole Seely with a 54.337, RCH/Soaring Eagle/Jimmy John Suzuki’s Broc Tickle with a 54.971, Rockstar Energy Factory Husqvarna Racing’s Jason Anderson at 54.819, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Davi Millsaps with a 54.812, and Yoshimura Suzuki’s Blake Baggett with a 56.219.

Justin Brayton returned to action in Detroit after missing several weeks due to injury and qualified 12th with a 54.573, just behind his BTO Sports KTM teammate Andrew Short at 55.637.

In the East Regional 250 SX class, Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin took a half second off of Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha’s Jeremy Martin; Musquin’s 52.810 topping Martin’s 53.303 by .493 of a second. Martin failed to qualify in Indy last week and is anxious to prove a point in Detroit.

Third fastest in the 250 class was Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Joey Savatgy, nearly three-quarters of a second behind Martin at 54.044, while Rockstar Energy Factory Husqvarna Racing’s was fourth with a 54.168.

Rounding out the top five was Honda-mounted James Decotis with a 54.602.

Sixth and seventh were GEICO Honda teammates RJ Hampshire (54.639), Justin Bogle (54.853), and Jordan Smith (54.990), while ninth and10th consisted of Honda rider Jace Owens (55.582) and Kawasaki-mounted Gannon Audette (55.805).
