World Superbike: Laguna Seca Gets Its Date

As expected, the World Superbike Championship is returning to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in July for a third consecutive year as the U.S.’s only round in the title chase. The race will be held on the Monterey Peninsula in Northern California the weekend of July 17-19.

“We continue to be pleased with the growth of the fan base for the series,” says Gill Campbell, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca CEO/general manager. “With the continuation of GEICO as title sponsor, it seems clear that the U.S. motorcycle industry also sees this as an important event in which to reach out to their enthusiasts.”

 Nearly 50,000 fans attended last year’s race, according to the racetrack, with 24 percent of the ticket buyers coming from Southern California.

The 2015 World Superbike Championship will consist of 14 rounds.
