In this economy, it’s not all that surprising that over the past few weeks some teams are just finalizing their graphics and the like for the 2014. The Star Racing Yamaha squad is one of those teams. We met up with Star Racing team manager Steve Lamson this morning to take some pictures of Supercross rookie Cooper Webb for his 2014 posters, and Webb informed us that if everything stays as it is, he’s racing the 250cc Western Regional Supercross Series on the all-new 2014 Yamaha YZ250F, while his teammates Jeremy Martin and Anthony Rodriguez are going to go after the Eastern series.

This is interesting because normally, if everyone on the team is healthy enough to race, the 250cc West Region is usually where the fastest racers on each team go. After all, there’s a lot more hype and exposure surrounding good results at Anaheim I than there is back east. And outside of the Monster Energy Cup last October, Webb has never raced a professional Supercross.

“I think I feel better in Supercross than I do outdoors,” Webb said this morning. “We all came out here and rode, and they made the decision for me to race West, so that’s pretty cool.”

So look for Webb at the season opener a week from tomorrow.
