Webb Battles for Podium Finish at Boise EnduroCross

Press Release | November 12, 2013
Cody Webb moves into third place in series championship.

The following is from Motorcycle Superstore…

MEDFORD, OR (November 11, 2013) – “I had arm pump so bad, I couldn’t even take my helmet off,” claimed Cody Webb, who manhandled his factory Beta to a solid second place finish at the penultimate round of the GEICO EnduroCross held this weekend in Boise, Idaho.

Both Webb and Taddy Blazusiak put on a great show for the nearly sold-out crowd inside the Idaho Center, but unfortunately for Webb, who led the race at the halfway point, Blazusiak was on his game and rammed his way into the lead, leaving the Motorcycle Superstore Superstar with the second spot on the podium. Webb describes the race best in his own words;

“I was excited coming into Boise to try and climb back up in the point standings in the series. I had won the previous two races and my confidence and mental game has definitely sky-rocketed because of it.

I felt great on my Beta 300 all day and the track was an awesome blend between jumps, rhythm sections, and technical stuff. I rode near perfect in my heat race and qualified third in the hot lap, giving me a great starting position in the main.

I got a good jump on the start but quickly got swallowed up by Taddy and Brown. I was able to sneak through the inside in the first corner and come out third. From there I rode smart and consistent the first few laps being very patient. When I knew I had the chance, I pushed extra hard down the finish straightaway and parked Taddy on the inside of the corner.

From there I pulled a little gap and was feeling great, looking to get my third straight win. Unfortunately, I went down in the log turn and Taddy gained all the ground back on me. With my adrenaline soaring I got caught up in our battle and started pumping up. Taddy got by me and I followed within striking distance for a few laps until I couldn’t even hold on anymore. The track was really demanding and it felt like I was going backwards.

I can’t wait until Vegas, though, to throw down another battle. The racing has been epic this year.”

Webb’s consistent podium finishes has him third in point standings with one round remaining

Both Mike Brown and Blazusiak are now tied for the championship with 130 points each. Webb is in third with 110. Colton Haaker, who finished third on the night, is in fourth with 108 and Taylor Robert is in fifth with 105. All five riders still mathematically have a chance to win the title, but it will take some poor performances from both Brown and Blazusiak for that to happen, but it is EnduroCross, so you never know.

RPM/KTM’s Chantele Bykerk wrapped up the Women’s Class championship with another overall win, making it four race wins in a row for the talented Canadian rider.

The final round of the GEICO EnduroCross takes place November 23 in Las Vegas inside the Orleans Arena. For more information and tickets, go online to www.endurocross.com.
