BMW Motorrad France Team Thevent’s Damien Cudlin, Erwan Nigon and Jason Pridmore topped the time sheets today in the second free practice session for the Suzuka 8 Hours in Japan today, but it was not without casualty as Cudlin crashed when a brake line broke and he suffered a broken left tibia.

The BMW team lapped at a best of 2:08.833 to best the Monster Energy Yamaha-YART team of Katsuyki Nakasuga, Broc Parks and Josh Waters by .139 of a second. The F.C.C. TSR Honda of Jonathan Rea and Ryuichi Kiyonari was third after leading the morning’s opening session.

Team Kagayama with Yukio Kagayama, Kevin Schwantz and Noriyuki Haga ended up 10th on the opening day of practice for this weekend’s 8 Hour, though the threesome had opened the morning session in fourth on their GSX-R1000. Schwantz also had a crash today, but escaped uninjured.
