David Pearson Leads The Way
t’s pretty much official: David Pearson is the guy to beat in this year’s AMA National Hare & Hound Championship. At round four, Pearson won again, this time at the Sage Riders’ National H&H in Jericho, Utah, April 14. It was his third win in a row, which gives him a secure points lead with three to go. Pearson led much of the way, keeping his distance on second-place finisher Kendal Norman, aboard a Honda.
Third place went to defending champ Destry Abbott. The Kawasaki rider was the early leader but lost his way on the course, dropping back to about 10th. In the dust, he worked his way up to third and had the two leaders in his sight late in the race, but that was as close as he could get.
Fourth place went to Quinn Cody and fifth Rob Phillips.
Russ Pearson was vying for the lead off the start when he and another rider tangled. Pearson’s Yamaha was heavily damaged in the crash. He was forced to stop for repairs and eventually finished the race around 10th.
